Overview

AlignMint combines nonprofit finance, fundraising, donor records, volunteer coordination, and events in a single web platform. It is best suited to organizations that want operational and financial records connected; its strongest fit is a team ready to pay for fund accounting and the roomier user and storage limits that come with higher tiers.

Fund accounting follows restricted and unrestricted money by purpose, supports approvals, and draws reports from the same ledger. Grant management, budget-versus-actuals, program tracking, and an audit trail add useful oversight for teams that need to connect spending with programs and funding conditions. AlignMint says nonprofit directors built the product, and its scope reaches beyond accounting into day-to-day operations.

Donor profiles keep gifts, receipts, recurring donations, pledges, notes, and follow-up together. Volunteer records include signups, schedules, service hours, background checks, and event assignments; event tools cover registration, tickets, check-in, attendance, and revenue reporting. The breadth can reduce handoffs between teams, though event tax collection is unsupported.

Minty, the AI assistant, answers plain-English questions using live nonprofit data, links to reports, and can take selected actions after confirmation. Each user gets at most 50 messages a day across both assistant interfaces, and monthly Minties allowances depend on the plan. That makes the assistant a bounded convenience rather than an unlimited route through the system.

Key features

The shared ledger is AlignMint’s clearest differentiator: finance teams can track restricted funds, manage grants, and compare budgets with actuals while programs and leadership work from connected records. Donor CRM covers the ongoing relationship as well as gifts, while volunteer and event tools address scheduling and attendance. Organizations seeking one system across those functions have a more compelling reason to consider AlignMint than teams looking only for event registration.

Security provisions include isolated organization data, encryption in transit and at rest, regular backups with redundant storage, and customer export access. AlignMint says it does not sell donor data. Plaid bank feeds are included with Plus; video conferencing uses Google Meet through calendar integration, and the pricing comparison lists QuickBooks and external import.

All plans include access to AlignMint support resources, with live webinars and chat available. The company also offers weekly live walkthroughs. Plans have no contracts or per-seat fees, but each still has a fixed user allowance except Enterprise.

Pricing

AlignMint has a free tier and paid plans, with Plus starting at $142.00 USD per month. The paid plan prices are billed annually, so the monthly figures should be read alongside the annual commitments.

Plan	Price and fit	Capacity
Free	Free; for eligible nonprofits with up to $100K in annual donations	1 user, 10 GB storage, 0 Minties per month
Plus	142.00 USD per month, billed $1,704 billed annually; for organizations up to $250K in annual donations; 30-day free trial	10 users, 25 GB storage, 2,500 Minties per month
Pro	499.00 USD per month, billed $5,988 billed annually; aimed at established teams and organizations up to $2.5M in annual donations	25 users, 100 GB storage, 10,000 Minties per month
Enterprise	Custom pricing and setup for large, multi-entity, or specialized organizations	Unlimited users, storage, organizations, and funds; 25,000+ Minties per month

Free is a meaningful way for a small eligible organization to begin without a card, but its single user, 10 GB of storage, and zero monthly Minties constrain collaboration and assistant use. It also does not include fund accounting: that starts with Plus. Plus raises capacity to 10 users and 25 GB, adds Plaid bank feeds and the 30-day trial, and is the entry point for organizations that need the ledger. Pro is for a larger team that needs more headroom, not just a different label: it provides 25 users, 100 GB, and four times Plus’s monthly Minties allowance. Enterprise removes those caps and adds support for multiple organizations and funds with consolidated reporting, but uses custom pricing.

There are no per-seat fees or contracts, yet donation thresholds, storage, users, and monthly Minties remain practical plan boundaries. Card processing costs 2.7% plus $0.30 per card transaction, so organizations collecting payments should include that fee in their comparison. Minty also has a separate daily ceiling of 50 messages per user regardless of the monthly plan allowance.

Platforms

AlignMint runs on the web. The available platform scope does not extend to a stated mobile app or particular operating systems, so teams needing a dedicated mobile client should confirm that the web experience meets their workflow.

Who it's for

AlignMint suits nonprofit finance, fundraising, program, volunteer, and leadership teams that value shared records and want fund accounting connected to operations. It is particularly relevant once an organization needs restricted-fund tracking, grant oversight, or budget-to-actual reporting alongside donor and event work. Very small teams can start free if they fall under the donation cap, but the one-user limit makes it a poor collaborative tier; organizations needing fund accounting must budget for Plus or above.

Pros and cons

Pros: One platform spans fund accounting, donors, volunteers, events, and reporting, which can keep finance and program workflows connected.
Pros: Free access has no credit-card requirement, and there are no contracts or per-seat charges.
Pros: Enterprise supports unlimited users, storage, organizations, and funds, with consolidated reporting for multi-entity teams.
Cons: Fund accounting begins only at Plus, so the free tier cannot serve as a no-cost entry to AlignMint’s central finance capability.
Cons: Free permits just one user and 10 GB, while even paid Minty usage is bounded by both a monthly allowance and a 50-message daily cap per user.
Cons: Event tax collection is unsupported, and card payments incur 2.7% plus $0.30 per transaction.

Alternatives

For a dedicated event workflow, Nonprofit Event Management Software is the broader category to compare. Organizations prioritizing the ledger should also consider Fund Accounting Software, while teams focused on volunteer screening can explore Church Background Check Software.

Zoho Backstage is worth considering when event capacity and platform coverage matter: its free plan allows 100 attendees per event, 300 RSVP invitations, three sessions, and three speakers, and it supports web, iOS, and Android. Eventbrite may suit teams whose priority is publishing events rather than combining event work with nonprofit finance; its free plan permits unlimited event publishing, with no ticketing fees on free tickets.

Humanitix is an event-focused alternative with no ticket fee for free events and a listed Standard rate of 0.99 USD per month per paid ticket, plus a 2.1% booking fee. Kindest Events offers a free Kickstart tier with three admin seats and a 5% platform fee, waived for the first $50K of the first year; it is a relevant comparison for event-centered fundraising.

RegFox has a $0/month Standard plan with a $0.99 plus 1% fee per paid registration and a paid-event fee capped at $4.99 per registrant. RunSignup is another event-registration option, including free events with no processing fee on a $0 cart. For organizations looking for a free nonprofit fundraising and donor toolkit, Zeffy includes donation forms, recurring gifts, event ticketing, peer-to-peer campaigns, donor management, and email tools. Cvent is an alternative whose registration product can be tried for free.

Verdict

AlignMint is a strong choice for nonprofits that want fund accounting and operational work in one system, especially once grants, restricted funds, donors, volunteers, and events need to inform the same reports. Its free tier is useful for a very small eligible organization, but the one-user cap and lack of fund accounting make it a starting point, not a substitute for Plus. Look elsewhere if event tax collection, a dedicated mobile platform, or event registration as the main requirement outweighs the value of an integrated nonprofit workspace.
