Altagonist
Altagonist is a WordPress plugin that creates image alt text using image metadata and page content. It can process hundreds of images at once and supports 70 languages. Its three quality levels draw on different amounts of context: Lite uses image metadata, Medium also uses page excerpts, and High uses full page content. Each image costs one, two, or three credits respectively. You can turn on automatic generation for uploaded images, choose a default language and quality level, and edit generated tags in the WordPress media library. JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP work natively; SVG, AVIF, TIFF, and BMP are converted automatically. The documentation says images are processed in real time and immediately discarded rather than stored. All plans support multiple WordPress sites, with credits shared among sites on the same license key. The Free plan costs nothing and includes 50 monthly credits. Personal, Pro, and Agency are listed as Coming Soon at €5 a month, €12 a month, and €29 a month, respectively. Unused credits do not roll over.
Altvisor
Altvisor is a web tool for generating image alt text and coordinating accessibility work for EU e-commerce sites. It drafts descriptions against WCAG 2.1 Level AA in all 24 official EU languages, with a person able to review and edit each suggestion before publishing. Its scanner checks alt text, headings, semantic structure, and language tags, then provides an AI visibility score; every plan includes a free scan. The product can prepare accessibility statements and compliance reports from scan results, but statements are self-declarations rather than certificates. Users can import images from websites and connect WordPress or WooCommerce. Shopify and WordPress plugins, a Chrome extension, and API documentation are marked as coming soon. Free costs nothing and covers 50 images monthly on one website, without an accessibility statement. Starter costs €12 a month, billed €144/yr, and covers 600 images monthly across two sites. Growth costs €36 a month, billed €432/yr; Business costs €76 a month, billed €912/yr. Altvisor says its AI inference remains in the EU, and uploaded images are processed in memory and deleted from storage.
