Overview

The platform brings together a 3D viewer, configurator, customer customizer, Designer workspace, and 3D Model Generator. Customers can add graphics, text, QR codes, and patterns, or choose preset options such as size, color, and material. That breadth suits product workflows where both visual presentation and customer input matter; businesses needing only a viewer may not need the full toolkit.

Interactive 3D previews and mobile AR let customers inspect a product without installing an app. Alter Product was founded in June 2023, and its first public beta launched in February 2025.

Key features

Customization and previews: Combining freeform additions with predefined options gives shoppers several ways to personalize products, while 3D previews make the result inspectable before purchase.
Production exports: PNG, SVG, and PDF exports are available at 72, 150, 200, or 300 DPI. That is useful for workflows that need artwork output as well as an online product view.
Commerce and fulfillment: The WordPress and WooCommerce plugin can connect to Printify or Printful for print-on-demand fulfillment. A Public API supports custom, headless, or order-management integrations. Commerce integrations also include Shopify, Webflow, Wix, and Squarespace, though embedding the tools on a store still requires Business or higher.
AI image generation: Users can connect their own OpenAI or Google Gemini API key. The provider bills image generation directly to the user’s account, so that usage sits outside the subscription.
Data and privacy controls: Embedded or local-storage setups keep assets and design data on the customer’s server. Users can delete their account in the application, and the privacy policy describes rights including access, correction, deletion, restriction, and objection.

Pricing

Alter Product uses a freemium model with a free plan and a 14-day trial. The Personal FREE plan has no listed price and allows 3 saved Designer projects and 10 saved 3D Model Generator projects, but provides no embedded sessions or Customizers. It is a limited way to work with the creation tools, not a route to putting them on a store.

Personal costs 14.99 EUR per month. It raises the allowances to 20 saved Designer projects and 30 saved 3D Model Generator projects, and includes mockup generation and print-ready PDF, SVG, and PNG export. It fits users who need workspace and export capacity without store embedding; the lack of Customizers and embedded sessions is a meaningful barrier for live commerce.

Business costs 149.00 EUR per month and includes 50 saved Designer projects, 100 saved 3D Model Generator projects, 2 active Customizers, 100 000 monthly embedded sessions, website embedding, and branding. It is the first plan suited to deploying customizers in a store, but the session quota and two-customizer limit matter for larger catalogs or high-traffic sites.

Enterprise has custom pricing and offers dedicated servers, extended resources, a custom API, and offers that can include personalized support and complex onboarding. It is aimed at businesses with requirements beyond the Business allowances. Custom 3D model creation is an additional service rather than a standard subscription inclusion, so buyers needing bespoke models should account for that separately.

Platforms

Alter Product runs on the web and through an API. It supports web embedding on Business or higher; Personal FREE and Personal do not include store embedding. Mobile AR viewing is supported for shoppers without an additional app installation.

Who it's for

The platform is aimed at e-commerce stores, print-on-demand businesses, manufacturers, and creators. It is strongest for teams combining customer personalization, 3D presentation, and print output, particularly when WooCommerce or a custom API workflow fits. It is less suitable for a small store that needs embedded customization but cannot justify the Business plan, or for buyers expecting custom 3D models as part of a subscription.

Pros and cons

Pro: Custom graphics, text, QR codes, patterns, and preset product options cover several common kinds of personalization.
Pro: Print-ready files in three formats and four DPI choices connect online design with production workflows.
Pro: WooCommerce and WordPress connections include Printify and Printful fulfillment support, while a Public API leaves room for custom integrations.
Con: Store embedding starts at 149.00 EUR per month on Business, not on either Personal tier.
Con: Business is capped at 2 active Customizers and 100 000 monthly embedded sessions, which may constrain broader deployments.
Con: Custom 3D model creation costs extra, and AI image generation is billed by the connected provider.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse 3D Product Configurator Software. Choose 3DBAE instead if its 0.00 USD per month Hobby plan, with 100 MB storage and one project, is a better fit for a small 3D-modeling start. Consider Roomle if its 170.00 EUR per month 3D Viewer plan, which allows 150 product uploads per month and 120 000 views per year on one website or domain, better matches a viewer-focused deployment.

ShapeDiver is another option, with a Startup plan from 199.00 EUR per month on an annual plan, 2,000 monthly credits, and two seats. Twikit is an alternative to consider. Maxameter may suit buyers considering a 4,500.00 SEK per month industrial configurator with a standard 12-month term after implementation, followed by month-to-month billing. Angle 3D Configurator is worth comparing for Shopify stores: its 39.00 USD per month Basic plan supports up to 10 products, 10 textures per product, unlimited views, and 250 Shopify variants per product. ImmersiNext offers a subscription priced to catalog size, traffic, and module deployment. Cylindo uses quote-based pricing tailored to business needs, catalog size, and sales channels.

Verdict

Alter Product is a good fit for commerce teams that need personalization, 3D and AR previews, and production exports in one workflow. Its strongest case is connecting customer design to print-ready output and fulfillment. Look elsewhere if store embedding must fit a lower-cost plan or if custom 3D model creation needs to be included in the subscription.
