Overview

Altered Studio is a voice-production platform for creators and teams who need to transform, generate and refine speech across both recordings and live audio. Its broad mix of morphing and production tools is compelling; the desktop requirement for a Windows PC with an 8GB+ Nvidia GPU makes it a poor fit for mobile-first or less capable setups.

It is at its best when voice transformation is part of a larger production workflow, rather than when the job is simply to generate speech from text.

Key features

Voice transformation and production

Speech-to-Speech, Performance-to-Performance morphing changes the voice while retaining the speaker’s performance. That is a useful distinction for creators who want to change vocal identity without losing the delivery. Text-to-speech, voice cloning, AI voice cleaning, denoising, editing, DSP effects and batch processing broaden the platform into a production toolkit. Recorded-audio changes, audio export and real-time voice changing are supported.

Rapid Voice Clone needs only 4–8 seconds of audio, lowering the input burden for making a local clone. Custom voice models require contacting Altered, so they are better suited to planned or team-based work than an immediate self-serve workflow.

Languages and connected workflows

Transcription and translation support 75+ languages; text-to-speech voice-over supports 70+ languages. Those are substantial ranges for multilingual production, although the language coverage differs by task. The online Voice Editor can use audio files in Google Drive, while RealTime Pro routes audio through a virtual microphone to Discord, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet.

Altered says RealTime Pro processes locally on the PC and keeps voice data on the PC; enterprise customers can also use cloud computing. Google Drive access is optional, and Google user data is used only to provide or improve user-facing application features. Altered also says it takes steps to prevent illegal or harmful use and may decline clients where conduct or intentions are unclear.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and provides 3 minutes per month of voice morphing, 10,000 AI Tokens and local voice cloning. Its attribution license requires credit for noncommercial use. It is a practical way to assess the workflow, but the small morphing allowance is restrictive for regular production.

Creator costs 30.00 USD per month, billed annually. It raises the monthly morphing allowance to 60 minutes and includes 325,000 AI tokens, local voice cloning, Accent voice morphing and Speaking Style voice morphing. This is the entry paid plan for creators who can work within a monthly quota and want those additional morphing modes.

Professional costs 90.00 USD per month, billed annually. It includes 180 minutes of voice morphing, 1,000,000 AI tokens, unlimited local morphing, Flexible and Performance voice morphing, and 48kHz sample-rate output. The higher cost is justified for heavier workflows that need more monthly minutes or the expanded controls and output quality; the annual billing term is an important commitment.

Enterprise has custom pricing and includes unlimited voice morphing and tokens, custom voice models, API access, multi-seat support and a dedicated account manager. It suits organizations integrating Studio into other systems or coordinating multiple users. A 7-day trial is also offered.

Platforms

Studio supports API, macOS, web and Windows, but the desktop version requires a Windows PC with an 8GB+ Nvidia GPU. Altered Studio is not currently supported on mobile devices. API access is offered to Enterprise customers, so the API platform entry does not make it a self-serve integration option for every plan.

Who it's for

Altered names podcasters, video game studios and eLearning among the industries it serves. It is most suitable for teams or creators who need voice morphing alongside editing, cleanup, cloning or multilingual speech tools. It is less suitable for mobile users, people without the specified Windows hardware, or anyone whose needs are limited to straightforward text-to-speech.

Pros and cons

Pros: Performance-preserving voice morphing is paired with editing, cleanup, denoising and batch processing, giving production workflows more than a voice generator alone.
Pros: Rapid Voice Clone uses just 4–8 seconds of audio, and transcription, translation and voice-over cover broad language ranges.
Pros: RealTime Pro connects to common meeting and chat apps through a virtual microphone, with local processing and voice data retention on the PC according to Altered.
Cons: Creator’s 60-minute monthly morphing quota may constrain regular use; Professional costs substantially more and is billed annually.
Cons: Desktop work requires a Windows PC with an 8GB+ Nvidia GPU, and mobile devices are unsupported.
Cons: Custom voice models and API access sit behind Enterprise, limiting self-serve access to those capabilities.

Alternatives

For a different route into voice production, AnnoMotion has a free plan with 15 credits after email verification and 8 free daily credits, plus a Mini plan at 1.00 GBP per once. Google Cloud Text-to-Speech is worth considering for usage-based text-to-speech: Standard voices include 0 to 4 million characters free, then cost US$0.000004 per character. Speechify may suit readers who want a broad-platform speech app; its free plan has 10 voices and a 1.5x maximum speed.

Cartesia Sonic, Inworld AI, Voice Creator Pro, Murf AI and Musely Audiobook Generator are other options to compare. For category-specific browsing, see Game Voice Generators, AI voice cloning tools, AI voice changers and Text-to-speech tools.

Verdict

Choose Altered Studio if voice morphing, cloning and audio production need to live in the same workflow, especially for recorded content or real-time desktop use. Its breadth and performance-preserving morphing are the main reasons to choose it; the monthly quotas, annual billing and demanding desktop requirements are reasons to look elsewhere.
