ALTification vs AltTextLab

ALTification is a WordPress plugin and web service that uses AI to generate keyword-aware alt text, captions, and descriptions for images. It considers the page’s surrounding content and SEO context, and supports bulk site scans as well as targeted scans of pages, posts, and public custom post types. Supported formats include JPG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF. Integrations include Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO, SEOPress, The SEO Framework, WooCommerce, and Advanced Custom Fields. Agency workflows can use before-and-after reports. One credit covers a generation; requesting alt text, a caption, and a description together can use up to three credits per image. The free trial includes 25 credits, three Preview & Refine tests, and one site. Monthly and one-time credit packages are available. Each API key is tied to the first WordPress site where it is used, so additional sites need separate keys. ALTification is operated by A Fine Studio in the United Kingdom. Its privacy policy says submitted images, prompts, and responses are not kept after generation and are not used to train AI models.

AltTextLab generates image alt text with attention to accessibility, search optimization and page context. It considers page titles, product information, surrounding content and image context when composing descriptions. Users can provide SEO keywords, choose a writing style and set the desired length. The product supports more than 130 languages and bulk processing for image libraries, including large batches of product photos. Listed integrations include WordPress, Webflow, Craft CMS, Drupal, Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop and Craft Commerce. Developer access includes a REST API, a one-line Web Snippet, and connectors such as Google Tag Manager, Zapier, Make and Pipedream; Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Edge extensions are also listed. Supported image formats are PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF and SVG. The free plan includes 25 credits per month, with one credit generating alt text for one image. Pro costs $4/mo billed annually or $5 a month on a monthly plan. Paid-plan credits roll over, while pay-as-you-go credits do not expire.
