In their own words
amCharts
amCharts is a JavaScript library for creating charts, maps, stock charts, and Gantt visualizations. amCharts 5 Charts lists more than 60 chart types, Canvas rendering, and a TypeScript-first API, with integration guides for React, Angular, Vue, Svelte, Next.js, Nuxt, Remix, and vanilla JavaScript. Maps includes bundled GeoJSON maps, projections, heat rules, drill-down, and point clustering without requiring a tile server or API key. Stock Chart provides 34 technical indicators, 22 drawing tools, comparison mode, and automatic data grouping. Gantt supports drag-and-drop task editing, dependency links, progress tracking, and export to PNG, JPG, or PDF. Charts describes screen-reader support, keyboard navigation, ARIA attributes, high-contrast modes, and WCAG AA readiness. The library can be installed through NPM, loaded from CDN URLs, or downloaded as standalone JavaScript files for a server. It supports JSON, CSV, and external data URLs and can power embedded interactive dashboards. amCharts is based in Vilnius, Lithuania; amMap began in 2004, and the first chart followed in 2006. The free version offers full functionality and commercial use but displays a small amCharts backlink. Commercial licenses remove branding and are licensed independently for each product. The listed Basic annual license is $80 a year for one developer seat.
Matplotlib
Matplotlib is a free Python library for creating static, animated, and interactive visualizations. The project says it can make publication-quality plots, and interactive figures can support zooming, panning, and updates. Users can customize visual style and figure layout, then export figures to many file formats. Matplotlib can be embedded in JupyterLab and graphical user interfaces. Third-party packages built on it include seaborn, HoloViews, plotnine, Cartopy, and WCSAxes. Official release wheels are available for Linux, macOS, and Windows, while documented runtime dependencies require Python 3.11 or newer. Additional dependencies may be needed for other GUI frameworks, LaTeX rendering, animation saving, and more file formats. The project describes its code as BSD-compatible and grants a royalty-free license subject to its license terms. Community help is available through Discourse, GitHub issues, and Stack Overflow. The project says Matplotlib began as a tool for EEG data and is now used in many fields. Its listed plan is Matplotlib at free.
