Overview

BestInterest is a co-parenting service that pairs day-to-day coordination with tools for managing difficult exchanges. It is best suited to separated parents who want help communicating as well as keeping schedules, expenses, and records together. Solo Mode makes it usable by one parent, but the more substantial message safeguards and call allowances require a paid plan.

Key features

Communication and coaching

Secure messaging and three coaching sessions a day are included in Free. Message Shield screens harmful language before the recipient reads a message, while retaining the original, and Tone Guardian suggests a calmer rewrite of a draft. Those safeguards start with Protect, so Connect is a poor fit if filtering and draft review are the main reasons to choose the app. Coaching rises to six sessions a day on Connect and is unlimited on Protect and Protect Plus.

In-app audio and video calling supports direct conversations. Connect allows 45 outgoing minutes per month, with a 15-minute limit per call; Protect raises that to 200 monthly minutes and 60 minutes per call. Protect Plus removes the outgoing-minute limit and adds voicemail, recording, and transcription for supported calls. Free includes inbound calls, but no outgoing allowance is included in its stated features.

Coordination and records

The shared calendar, schedule changes, tasks, and expense tracking give parents a practical place to coordinate routines and costs. Free already includes the calendar, tasks, and expense tracking, alongside Solo Mode, a private journal, and data exports. The journal and unsent drafts are not visible to the co-parent; shared material becomes visible when sent or deliberately shared. This separation is useful for private preparation, though it does not make shared communication private.

Free exports supported records as CSV. Connect adds up to 10 Verified Reports per month, while Protect and Protect Plus include unlimited reports; Connect also adds uploads. Structured PDF reports may help organize a record, but their admissibility depends on the circumstances and jurisdiction. The company describes administrative, technical, and organizational security safeguards without promising absolute security. Its policy also describes Google and Firebase analytics, Google and Meta advertising measurement, and payment processing through Apple, Google, or Stripe; mobile users can turn off usage-data collection in Privacy Options.

Pricing

BestInterest is freemium. Free costs 0.00 USD per free, has no expiration, and includes secure messaging, Solo Mode, three coaching sessions a day, inbound calls, calendar, tasks, expense tracking, a private journal, and data exports. It is a credible starting point for one parent or for basic coordination, but it does not include the paid plans’ outgoing-call allotments or Verified Reports.

Connect costs 9.99 USD per month or $99.99/year and offers a 2-week free trial. It adds six daily coaching sessions, 45 outgoing call minutes monthly (15 minutes per call), up to 10 Verified Reports monthly, Boundary Line, and uploads. This is the lower-cost paid option for parents who need limited calling and a modest report quota; it does not include Message Shield or Tone Guardian.

Protect costs 14.99 USD per month or $149.99/year, with a 2-week free trial. It adds Message Shield, Tone Guardian, Smart Silence, Emergency Detection, unlimited coaching, 200 outgoing call minutes a month (60 minutes per call), and unlimited Verified Reports. For frequent coaching, message safeguards, or regular reporting, the extra cost over Connect buys meaningful capacity rather than just a higher quota.

Protect Plus costs 29.99 USD per month or $299.99/year and includes a 2-week free trial. It keeps Protect’s unlimited reports and coaching, removes the outgoing-call allowance, and adds voicemail, recording, and transcription for supported calls. It makes sense when those call features or unlimited outgoing time matter; otherwise Protect has the more restrained price. Paid plans offer monthly and annual billing, and the free trial lasts two weeks.

Platforms

BestInterest runs on Android, iOS, and the web, giving parents a choice of mobile apps or browser access. The support site provides FAQs, help articles, troubleshooting, contact support, and service status.

Who it's for

BestInterest fits separated parents who want scheduling and expense coordination alongside support for tense communication. It is particularly relevant when one parent wants to start alone: Solo Mode provides coaching, organization, and documentation without requiring the co-parent to join. Parents who only need a shared calendar may find its communication and reporting tiers unnecessary, while those who need call recording should budget for Protect Plus.

Pros and cons

Useful without two participants: Solo Mode lets one parent use the coaching and organization tools without waiting for the co-parent to join.
A substantive free starting point: Calendar, tasks, expenses, journal, exports, secure messaging, and three daily coaching sessions are included at no charge and without expiration.
Paid capacity is clearly tiered: Call-minute caps, per-call limits, and report quotas distinguish Connect and Protect, while Protect Plus removes the outgoing-call cap.
Key safeguards are not in Connect: Message Shield and Tone Guardian require Protect or Protect Plus, a notable gap for users whose main concern is difficult messages.
Top-tier calling costs more: Voicemail, recording, transcription, and unlimited outgoing calls are reserved for Protect Plus.

Verdict

Choose BestInterest if you want co-parenting coordination and communication coaching in one service, especially if you may need to use it without the other parent. Look elsewhere if your needs are limited to a shared schedule, or if you need recording and transcription but cannot justify Protect Plus.
