In their own words
Amp
Amp is a coding agent and development environment for work across local machines, cloud orbs, and connected runners. An orb is a cloud machine created for a thread, where the agent can use a project, tools, and plugins. Amp offers chat assistance, codebase indexing, and terminal access, and uses different models for different tasks, including GPT-5.6 and Claude Fable 5.1. Its CLI connects to VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Zed, and Neovim; the JetBrains integration is deprecated. Threads can be saved and shared, with workspace threads shared with the team by default. GitHub integration can clone private repositories, push branches, open pull requests, and read CI status subject to the connected account’s access. Amp supports local and remote MCP servers. In Slack, users can send requests to a personal Puck by mentioning @Amp. Amp lists a free Hobby plan for public and private repositories and a Megawatt plan at $20 a month, including 45,000 minutes of orb time and unlimited public and private repositories. Amp says it does not offer self-hosted deployment, though users can bring their own model-provider API keys.
Atlassian Rovo Dev
Atlassian Rovo Dev is an AI agent for professional software engineers that supports code planning, generation, review, and bulk task automation. It creates code plans using knowledge from across the Atlassian platform and can help implement work items through refactoring, tests, and documentation. For code review, it analyzes changes, suggests improvements, and checks them against Jira acceptance criteria. Rovo Dev CLI understands repository code and acts on plans in Jira. The product describes workflows in Bitbucket Cloud and GitHub, as well as integration with VS Code; supported IDEs are VS Code and Cursor. It also lists chat assistance, codebase indexing, and terminal access. Atlassian says the agent respects existing permissions, so results can vary with the content each user can access. The Free plan costs nothing and provides 350 credits per user per month per Jira site. Standard costs $20 a month, billed per developer per month, and includes 2,000 credits per developer; extra usage costs $0.01 per credit. Changing from Free to Standard starts a 30-day trial. The standalone product is reaching end of life, with capabilities moving to eligible Jira and Teamwork Collection subscriptions; no final end-of-life date is stated. Atlassian's transition FAQ says all Rovo Dev tools, including Code Reviewer, remain active as of October 1, 2026.
