In their own words
aMule
aMule is a free, GPL-licensed peer-to-peer file-sharing client for the eD2k and Kademlia networks. It can connect to both at the same time and is compatible at the wire level with eMule and other *Mule clients. Search covers eD2k servers and Kademlia, with filters for type, size, and availability and support for AND, OR, and NOT. ICH and AICH checks can identify and repair damaged download chunks, and shared files can be re-hashed for integrity checks. Remote operation is available through a native GUI, REST API, browser Web UI, command-line tool, and legacy WebUI. Its amuled daemon can run without a graphical display on a server, NAS device, or VPS. Remote connections are encrypted; new installations accept connections only from the local machine, and failed logins are throttled. The software supports Windows, macOS, and Linux, with packages listed for Windows 10/11, macOS 11.0+, and Linux. Blocked ports can greatly reduce performance.
BiglyBT
BiglyBT is a free, open-source BitTorrent client with no ads or third-party installer offers. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android. Migration tools can transfer settings, downloads, and plugins from several popular BitTorrent clients. Swarm Merging can help finish torrents missing available pieces, and bandwidth limits can be applied globally or to downloads, tags, peer sets, networks, or peers, with schedules. Discovery features include meta-search with custom site templates, Swarm Discoveries, tag discovery, and RSS subscriptions. Network and privacy options include I2P support, VPN detection, and routing search results, subscriptions, and internal browser connections through Tor. The client also provides media playback and conversion, UPnP Media Server, and DLNA support. Android apps compatible with Transmission RPC can remotely control it. The desktop privacy policy says download and sharing details stay on the computer, while server calls check IP and update status without logging the IP. Android startup telemetry includes app and device details and client type, but not torrent, subscription, or search activity.
