Anara
Anara is an AI tool for scientific workflows, helping researchers search literature, understand sources, synthesize findings and write cited work. Its Agent searches a library, the web and academic databases; Anara says its academic search spans more than 500 million papers, including sources such as PubMed, arXiv and JSTOR. Answers link citations to exact passages in source documents. Supported materials include PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoints, spreadsheets, images, audio and video, and a conversation can cover up to 10,000 documents in a library. Connectors include Zotero, Mendeley, Google Drive, Notion, OneDrive, Dropbox, Slack, Teams, PubMed and ClinicalTrials.gov. A scientific writing editor offers citation suggestions and LaTeX support. Access is listed for the web, macOS, iOS and Chrome extension. Anara states that it is SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified and GDPR and HIPAA compliant. Data is processed and stored in the United States; EU-only data residency is not available. Paid plans start at $10/user/mo (annual).
PDFtoChat
PDFtoChat lets users upload PDFs and ask questions about papers, textbooks, and contracts. The workflow requires a free account, followed by document upload for AI analysis and conversation about its contents. The Free plan costs nothing, and access is listed for the web and self-hosted deployments. Its homepage says the source code is available on GitHub for reading, review, or contribution. The repository describes a Next.js application using Mixtral through Together AI, LangChain.js, and Chroma Cloud. Chroma Cloud supplies hybrid dense and sparse vector search with Qwen and SPLADE embeddings. Bytescale stores PDFs, Clerk handles authentication, and Vercel hosts the application and Postgres database; Neon is an alternative database for self-deployment. The template can be deployed to Vercel or another host after configuring service credentials. Scanned PDFs are not supported.
