Overview

ChoirMate is a shared service for rehearsal materials, music, choir communications and administration. It is a strong fit for ensembles that want singers and organizers to share one repertoire and activity record. The free plan is useful for smaller groups, but its people, audio and repertoire caps matter.

The service spans community choirs to large choral societies and says it serves more than 100,000 singers in 13 languages. Its distinguishing strength is the combination of part-oriented practice resources with attendance and member communication, rather than practice tools alone.

Key features

Rehearsal tracks are organized by set list, song and voice group, and conductors or members can record them. That structure helps singers focus on their part and gives a choir a shared pool of practice audio. The free plan allows 10 audio files per user, so groups with active or extensive repertoires may need a paid package. Subscribers can use audio and scores offline after opening each resource once while connected.

Members can access sheet music, shared song remarks and a built-in piano. Attendance can be recorded for calendar activities and exported in an Excel-friendly file, useful for choirs that need to take records into another workflow. Management messages allow comments, alongside individual chats, group chats and voice-group threads. Premium calendar synchronization works with Google Calendar, iCloud and other calendar platforms.

ChoirMate says data traffic is encrypted and user content is encrypted at rest in Google data centers. Account data is deleted within three months after a user requests account deletion.

Pricing

The Free plan is free and supports up to 50 people, 10 audio files per user and 15 repertoire songs. That is a practical starting point for a small choir, but the audio and song limits can pinch for groups that share many practice resources.

Individual ChoirMate Premium costs 4.99 USD per month as an individual subscription for choir members; the core choir service remains free. It is a member-level option, not a replacement for a choir package.

Standard Package costs 26.67 USD per month, billed with a 17% annual saving, and covers up to 50 people with 25 MB extra storage for documents, photos and videos. Sheet music and audio are unlimited. Premium Package costs 53.33 USD per month, also billed with a 17% annual saving, and raises extra storage to 100 MB while keeping the 50-person cap and unlimited sheet music and audio. Standard suits groups needing more room for shared non-music files; Premium is for groups that need the larger allowance. Both packages retain the same people limit.

A free trial is offered. Choirs larger than 50 people should confirm a suitable arrangement before choosing a package.

Platforms

ChoirMate runs on the web, iOS and Android. The iOS app requires iOS 16 or later; Android requires Android 8.0 Oreo or later. Those minimums may rule out older phones, even when the choir otherwise fits the service.

Who it's for

ChoirMate suits ensembles that want rehearsal audio, scores, attendance and communication in one shared service, especially when voice-group organization and attendance exports are useful. It is less compelling for someone seeking only an individual practice tracker, or for a larger choir that needs more than 50 seats in the published packages.

Pros and cons

Pros: Rehearsal audio is organized by voice group, and members as well as conductors can contribute recordings.
Pros: Attendance exports, member messaging and calendar synchronization connect rehearsal preparation with choir administration.
Pros: Paid packages remove limits on sheet music and audio, and subscribers can access opened scores and audio offline.
Cons: The free plan caps groups at 50 people, repertoire at 15 songs and audio at 10 files per user.
Cons: Both published choir packages cap membership at 50; their extra storage is limited to 25 MB or 100 MB.
Cons: Mobile access requires iOS 16 or Android 8.0 Oreo or later.

Alternatives

Music Practice Software is the broader category to browse if choir administration is not the deciding requirement.

Choose Practis instead for a practice-focused tool with a free plan for up to five active pieces, practice history, goals and limited Ask Practis; its Pro (monthly) plan is 4.99 USD. Modacity is another freemium option, for musicians whose practice setup fits its stated free allowances of 10 practice items and 2 practice lists.

Vivid Practice may suit a studio managing a small number of students: its Forever Free plan covers 1 student, while Small Studio is 9.00 USD per month for 2–10 students. Better Practice is worth considering for an individual musician: its Individual Plan is 1.49 USD per month billed annually, and its Students plan is 4.25 USD per month.

Octero, Maestro Planner, MatchMySound and My Practice Canvas are other options to compare for music practice workflows.

Verdict

Choose ChoirMate if your choir wants shared, voice-group rehearsal resources alongside attendance records and member communication. Its free plan gives a small group a way to begin, while paid packages provide unlimited audio and sheet music. Look elsewhere if you need more than 50 seats on a published package, generous extra file storage, or a tool centered on individual practice rather than choir operations.
