Overview

Animaker is a web-based video maker that pairs prompt-generated clips with 2D animation and tools for building supporting visuals. It is best suited to educators and business teams producing explainers, training material, or internal communications; it is less compelling for buyers who need predictable, high-volume generative video on a low monthly budget.

The workflow goes beyond a prompt: users can review and edit a generated video, then generate it again. Whiteboard animation, character building, AI assets, voiceovers, subtitles, and translation make Animaker useful when a project needs more than a single generated clip, though the monthly allowances on paid plans impose real limits on that production.

Key features

Animaker's strongest case is the breadth of its video-production toolkit. It offers whiteboard animation, AI-generated infographics and assets, a custom character builder, and more than 1,000 animation templates. AI voiceovers span more than 1,000 voices and 100 languages, with automatic lip sync; subtitle generation and translation can help adapt videos for different audiences.

Real-time collaboration and a Brand Kit support coordinated team work. The Ultra Gen API has RESTful, JSON-based endpoints for integrating video generation into web and mobile apps, while the publish flow can upload videos directly to a user's YouTube account. Exports include MP4, GIF, and WebM, with resolutions from SD through 4K. The breadth is useful for teams combining formats, but buyers should weigh it against the plan-specific generation and download quotas.

For enterprise teams, dedicated seats, comments, task assignments, a shared resource library, and admin controls provide more structure than the general collaboration features. Animaker states that it is ISO 27001:2022 certified, follows GDPR and CCPA processes, and encrypts data in transit and at rest. Tutorials, FAQs, training, and a contact option are listed for support.

Pricing

Animaker uses a freemium model, with monthly plans that differ substantially in generation allowances and export limits.

Plan	Price	What it includes	Best fit
Free	0.00 USD per free	Basic animation tools, limited premium assets, and downloads with an Animaker watermark.	Trying the animation workflow or making watermarked drafts.
Basic	Custom pricing	1,500 AI video credits and 50 Gen AI asset credits per month, 5 premium downloads per month, and videos up to 5 minutes.	Users who need a lower allowance than Starter; the price needs to be confirmed before choosing it.
Starter	45.00 USD per month, billed Pay monthly	3,000 AI video credits, 200 Gen AI asset credits, 10 premium downloads, and 90 seconds of generative video per month; videos up to 15 minutes.	Regular creators who need a moderate allowance and longer finished videos.
Pro	79.00 USD per month, billed Pay monthly	5,000 AI video credits, 300 Gen AI asset credits, 30 premium downloads, and 180 seconds of generative video per month; videos up to 30 minutes.	Teams or creators who need more monthly generation and downloads, or longer videos.
Enterprise	Custom pricing	Unlimited premium downloads, 6,000 seconds of generative video and 5,000 Gen AI asset credits per year, with unlimited video length.	Organizations that need higher annual allowances and enterprise collaboration controls.

Starter and Pro raise the monthly quotas and maximum video length, but even Pro caps generative video at 180 seconds per month. The free plan's watermark makes it unsuitable for polished exports, while Basic's five premium downloads per month may constrain frequent publishing. A 7-day trial is offered.

Platforms

Animaker runs on the web and has iOS and Android apps for making animated videos on mobile devices. Its platform details also include an API, which is relevant to teams embedding generation in their own web or mobile apps.

Who it's for

Animaker suits individuals and educators who need animated explainers, and business teams making L&D, HR, marketing, sales, or internal-communications videos. The combination of templates, voice tools, translation, and collaboration is particularly useful when several people contribute to branded content. It is a weaker fit for creators whose work depends on a large volume of generated footage each month, given the explicit generative-video quotas even on Pro.

Pros and cons

Pros: Prompt generation sits alongside animation, character creation, infographics, voice, subtitles, and translation, reducing the need to assemble a workflow across separate tools.
Pros: More than 1,000 templates, a Brand Kit, and real-time collaboration support repeatable team production.
Pros: MP4, GIF, and WebM exports up to 4K, plus direct YouTube publishing and an API, cover several delivery workflows.
Cons: Free downloads carry an Animaker watermark, and premium assets are limited, so the free plan is mainly for evaluation or drafts.
Cons: Starter and Pro have finite monthly generation credits and premium-download quotas; Pro still limits generated video to 180 seconds per month.
Cons: Basic and Enterprise have custom pricing, making those plans harder to compare on cost before contacting Animaker.

Alternatives

Choose Canva if a general design editor, templates, and content library matter more than Animaker's animation-specific production features; Canva has a free plan for one person.

EchoWave Podcast Editor is worth considering for video work centered on podcast editing, with free 720p exports carrying a small badge and videos up to 60 minutes.

Pick FlexClip if its free plan's 12 online projects, 10-minute video limit, and one stock video and audio per project suit your workload.

Powtoon offers a different route for short, template-led animation: its free plan supports 720p videos up to three minutes, with a watermark and basic templates and characters.

Choose HeyGen if a free allowance of up to three videos per month, each up to one minute, better matches your needs.

Visme may suit projects organized as slides or pages: its Basic plan includes 500MB of storage and 50 slides or pages per project.

Pixelcut is another freemium option, with free background removal and upscaling subject to limits and free exports without a watermark.

Renderforest Slideshow Maker is an alternative for slideshow creation.

Verdict

Animaker is a strong choice for educators and business teams that want animation, prompt-based video, localization, and collaboration in one production service. Its range of creative tools is the main reason to choose it; the cost of Starter and Pro, combined with capped generative-video allowances, is the main reason to look elsewhere if high-volume generation is the priority.
