In their own words
Ansys optiSLang
Ansys optiSLang automates simulation workflows and connects them to optimization methods for parametric design studies. It coordinates processes between heterogeneous CAx tools across an enterprise. Its capabilities include design optimization, robustness and reliability analysis, reduced-order modeling, model calibration, design of experiments and sensitivity analysis. The open ecosystem connects with more than 100 third-party CAE/CAD applications and in-house solutions through Ansys nodes, scripting, text interfaces or custom integrations. It integrates with Ansys Minerva for workflow publishing and simulation process and data management. The optiSLang AI+ add-on provides machine-learning methods for sensitivity analysis, optimization and robust design. Windows and Linux installations are supported, alongside web and self-hosted platforms. The 2026 R1 release expands Python controls and support for cloud and HPC deployment workflows, and adds or enhances connections for Rocky, FreeFlow, LS-OPT and Ansys SimAI. Pricing is available on request and a 30-day trial is listed. An enterprise license is required to build apps and conduct a much higher number of concurrent variations.
CATIA
CATIA is a parametric modeling and engineering product with tools for assembly design, sheet-metal work, and surface modeling. It supports cloud collaboration. Platform availability depends on the CATIA product: browser applications run on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, while CATIA V5 sheet-metal software is available for Windows. File format support also varies by product. STEP import and export are listed, while DXF, STL, VRML, and IGES are supported by other CATIA V5 products. CATIA is paid, with pricing on request. Buyers should match the intended modeling work, collaboration needs, platform, and file exchange requirements to the specific CATIA product. Its web and Windows listings do not mean that every CATIA capability is offered on both platforms.
