Overview

The desktop app uses machine learning to identify notes, percussion, beats, and instruments, then lets users revise the score. You can alter notes, measures, signatures, and tempo, and slow playback without changing pitch. Instrument formatting supports the chosen instrument’s key, range, and staff, with standard notation or tablature.

The browser service accepts audio or MIDI and provides PDF, MusicXML, and MIDI output on paid plans. Desktop and web are not interchangeable: the desktop app can run offline once activated, while web submissions and their settings, edits, actions, and generated output are collected and stored under the privacy policy.

There is a conflict in the product details around chord detection: one feature entry says it is supported, but the FAQ says AnthemScore cannot currently detect chords. The FAQ also says it cannot detect vocals and may misprocess music not tuned to standard A440. Buyers whose work depends on chord transcription should resolve that contradiction with the maker before committing.

Key features

Automatic transcription: Detection of notes, percussion, beats, and instruments can provide a useful starting score for instrumental material, but the stated vocal and tuning limits narrow its reach.
Score editing and playback: Note, measure, signature, and tempo edits let users correct output rather than accept it as-is. Pitch-preserving slow playback helps inspect passages at a lower speed.
Instrument formatting: Formatting for an instrument’s key, range, and staff, including tablature, makes the output more adaptable than a single generic score.
File compatibility: Web inputs include MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, MP4, MID, and microphone recordings. Desktop support includes MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, WavPack, and MusePack. DRM-protected files do not work.

Pricing

The web free plan costs 0.00 USD per free. It includes a 14-day full-song trial, with songs up to 6 minutes during the trial; afterward, use is limited to unlimited 30-second clips, viewable and playable in a browser. That makes it useful for trying the workflow, but not for sustained full-song transcription without paying.

Web Plus costs 8.33 USD per month, billed annually. It allows up to 30 songs a month and 6 minutes per song, plus unlimited 30-second clips and PDF, MIDI, and MusicXML downloads. It suits regular users with moderate monthly volume. Web Pro costs 24.99 USD per month, billed annually, and raises the quota to 100 songs a month and 10 minutes per song; it also includes downloads and the desktop app while subscribed. Choose Pro for heavier web use or when the subscription desktop access matters, not merely for occasional clips.

The desktop licenses are one-time purchases: AnthemScore 6 Lite is 29.00 USD per once, AnthemScore 6 Professional is 39.00 USD per once, and AnthemScore 6 Studio is 99.00 USD per once. Lite provides unlimited full-song transcriptions and lets users view, save, and print PDF, with one year of free updates. Professional adds MIDI, MusicXML, and ASDT export, note editing, and playback controls, also with one year of free updates. Studio adds batch processing and lifetime software updates to Professional features. Lite is the lower-cost fit if PDF is enough; Professional is the more practical choice when export formats and editing are needed; Studio is for batch work or users who value lifetime updates. The desktop activation key initially covers up to four computers, with one additional device for each full year after purchase.

Platforms

AnthemScore offers web, Windows, macOS, and Linux versions. The desktop application requires a 64-bit laptop or desktop; phones, tablets, virtual machines, and 32-bit systems are unsupported. Web access may suit users who do not have a supported desktop, while the desktop license offers offline operation after activation.

For web use, submitted transcription content and related settings, actions, modifications, and output are stored. The privacy policy says sensitive information is encrypted using SSL, and payments are handled by providers such as Stripe or PayPal; card numbers are not stored on Lunaverus servers. Desktop users can disable update checks and opt out of feature usage reporting in Preferences. Crash reports are sent only with permission.

Who it's for

AnthemScore is a reasonable fit for musicians transcribing instrumental recordings who can review and edit the resulting notation. Desktop users who want full-song transcription without a recurring license have a particularly clear path in Lite or Professional. It is not a strong choice for vocal transcription, chord-focused work, DRM-protected recordings, or material outside standard A440 tuning. Anyone handling web transcriptions should also be comfortable with the stated storage of submitted material and edits.

Pros and cons

Pro — Useful correction tools: Editing notes, measures, signatures, and tempo, alongside pitch-preserving slow playback, supports a revise-and-check workflow.
Pro — Flexible desktop purchase: One-time Lite, Professional, and Studio licenses range from PDF-only use to editing, multiple export formats, batch processing, and lifetime updates.
Pro — Instrument-aware output: Key, range, staff, and tablature options make score formatting more specific to the intended instrument.
Con — Narrow transcription scope: The FAQ excludes vocals and chords and warns about non-A440 tuning, limiting its value for some common transcription tasks.
Con — Restrictive free web use after trial: Full-song trial access lasts 14 days; afterward the free plan only handles 30-second clips.
Con — Web content is stored: The policy says submissions, edits, settings, and generated output are collected and stored, a meaningful consideration for sensitive recordings.

Verdict

Choose AnthemScore if you want instrumental audio transcription paired with substantive score editing, especially on a desktop where a one-time license can cover full songs. Look elsewhere if you need dependable vocal or chord transcription, or if your recordings are not tuned to standard A440. The desktop editions deliver the clearest value for users prepared to refine the output; the free web plan is best treated as a short-clip option after its trial.
