| API | CloudStack exposes a documented, extensible REST-like API and supports Amazon EC2 and S3-compatible APIs. | QStack advertises an open API intended for external-system integration and describes it as flexible and high performance. |
| API documentation | API references are published for every major feature version from 4.0 through 4.23. | The API page is publicly reachable and provides a QStack/CloudInstall system selector, but the fetched page exposes little endpoint detail. |
| Deployment | Organizations use CloudStack to build public, private, and hybrid clouds. | The maker says the system program is provided free for private deployment, with non-core code open source and support for secondary development. |
| Extensibility | A pluggable adapter framework supports custom hypervisor, storage, network and authentication integrations. | Its architecture uses plugins, templates and tags, with a third-party developer ecosystem for customization. |
| Support | Users can seek community help through the project mailing list, and the project says some companies offer commercial support. | The site lists a consultation phone number, an email address, and a user forum for service and support. |
| What it does | Apache CloudStack deploys and manages large virtual-machine networks as a highly available, scalable IaaS platform. | QStack is presented as a multi-cloud management system for operating servers, cloud hosts, proxy IP products and related cloud resources. |

In their own words
Apache CloudStack
Apache CloudStack is free, open-source software for deploying and managing networks of virtual machines as a highly available, scalable IaaS cloud platform. Organizations can use it to build public, private, or hybrid clouds. Its features include compute orchestration, network services, account management, resource accounting, a web interface, and an open API. Operators can manage clouds through a web UI, command-line tools, or REST API, with optional AWS EC2- and S3-compatible APIs. Supported hypervisors include XenServer or XCP, KVM, Hyper-V, and VMware ESXi with vSphere. Storage options include iSCSI, NFS, Ceph RBD with KVM, volume encryption, snapshots, and storage tiering. Authentication options include OAuth2 single sign-on, two-factor authentication, TOTP, SAML, and LDAP. The project says CloudStack can manage tens of thousands of physical servers across geographically distributed data centers. Long Term Support releases receive bug and security fixes for 18 months after the main release. Operators remain responsible for protections such as monitoring, host security, and defenses against DoS and brute-force attacks.
Qstack
Qstack is a multi-cloud management system for managing servers, cloud hosts, proxy IP products, operations, and secure storage. It is aimed at IDC service providers, teams, and businesses that manage product processes. The system can connect to Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, and Huawei Cloud, synchronize current product information, and support automated payments on connected public cloud platforms. Product management listings also name QStack, 星外, Proxmox, 小鸟云, and 景安云. Team functions include member management, ticketing, workflow approvals, and revenue sharing. Qstack supports private deployment; the maker says the system program is provided free for that use, with non-core code open source and support for secondary development. An open API and plugin and template mechanism are available for connections and customization. API requests can use HTTP or HTTPS, with HTTPS recommended. Deployment guidance describes Linux with an LNMP setup of Nginx, MySQL, and PHP 7.3. The basic edition is free for small IDC teams; the professional edition costs 9,999 CNY a year. The operations edition has no listed price.
