In their own words
Apache Drill
Apache Drill is a schema-free SQL query engine for Hadoop, NoSQL databases, and cloud storage. It can query raw data where it resides without first loading it, defining schemas, or transforming it. Its JSON data model supports complex and nested structures, and a single query can join data across multiple datastores. Listed sources include HBase, MongoDB, HDFS, Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage, Swift, NAS, and local files. JDBC and ODBC drivers connect Drill to tools including Tableau, Qlik, MicroStrategy, Spotfire, SAS, and Excel; developers can also use its REST API in custom applications. Drill can run embedded on a laptop or in distributed mode on a server cluster, and the homepage lists Mac, Windows, and Linux. Documented security options include Kerberos, username and password authentication, Digest, authorization, and impersonation. The software is free under Apache License 2.0. A compatibility limit: official support for Hadoop 2 and Java 8 was dropped with Drill 1.22.0.
DbVisualizer
DbVisualizer is a desktop database client for accessing, exploring, and optimizing databases. It connects to any database with a JDBC driver and provides extended support for Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Snowflake, Elasticsearch, IBM Db2, and SQLite. Its tools include data editing, a visual query builder, query history, SSH tunneling, and exports to CSV, HTML, SQL, XML, XLS, XLSX, JSON, and TXT. The optional AI Assistant can answer database questions, explain query errors, and analyze code; its AI features are enabled only when users opt in. DbVisualizer runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, but not on phones or tablets. The client runs within infrastructure controlled by the customer, and DbVis Software says it does not store, process, or access customer data. The free edition includes a User Guide and community access; full support requires Pro. Free is free. Pro with 60 day support is $199 a year, and Pro with premium support is $229 a year. Pro grants perpetual use of versions released during the subscription term; updates require an active subscription.
