| Licence | Apache Hop is released under the Apache License 2.0. | CloverDX is proprietary commercial software under a commercial EULA; only selected third-party components are open source. |
| Purpose | Apache Hop is an open source platform for data integration and orchestration, with visual pipelines and workflows. | CloverDX is a data integration platform for building, automating, and monitoring production data pipelines. |
| Security | The security page advises upgrading to a version containing a vulnerability fix because binary patches are not produced for individual vulnerabilities. | CloverDX supports LDAP and SAML, recommends HTTPS, and says Server job data is processed as a stream and not retained after jobs end, though metadata such as logs and execution statistics is stored. |
| Support | Community support is volunteer-based and free, but the project says it cannot promise response times; commercial providers offer services such as SLAs, training, and migration. | The Standard plan includes US- and EU-based product support, and the Enhanced plan includes 24/7 product support. |
| What it does | Apache Hop is a metadata-driven platform for visual data integration, engineering and orchestration using pipelines and workflows. | CloverDX combines ETL pipelines, data integration, orchestration and business-facing data tools in one platform. |

In their own words
Apache Hop
Apache Hop is an open-source platform for data integration and orchestration. Its visual canvas lets users assemble pipelines, preview rows at individual steps, and watch live data and metrics during execution. A pipeline can run locally, on Hop Server, on Apache Spark, or on Flink and Dataflow through Apache Beam. Hop includes more than 250 pipeline transforms, more than 80 workflow actions, and support for over 40 database dialects. Listed connections include PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, BigQuery, Kafka, Salesforce, SAP, S3, REST, and SFTP. Teams can switch environments when moving projects from development to production and keep credentials outside pipeline definitions. Apache Hop is free under the Apache License 2.0. It runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows; Hop Web works in modern browsers. Release 2.19.0 requires Java 21. Docker images and a Kubernetes Helm chart are available; Hop Web is work in progress and provided as-is.
CloverDX
CloverDX is a self-hosted platform for building, automating, and monitoring production data pipelines. It combines visual development with coding options, and workflows can use dependencies, error handling, and checkpoints for manual intervention. Jobs can start from schedules, message queues, APIs, or detected files. Wrangler provides self-service data preparation, while Data Manager supports data stewardship, master data management, and manual review of in-flight data. The platform includes connectors, supports custom connectors, and lists REST, SOAP, and GraphQL protocols; Salesforce transfers can use Bulk API connectors, with SOAP API available for lower-volume queries. CloverDX can run on-premises, in cloud environments, in Docker or Kubernetes containers, and in hybrid environments. Its AI Assistant can plan, build, test, and document pipelines, using a customer-provided provider key or local models. The 45-day full-feature trial runs on the customer's infrastructure, includes support access, and has no data-volume restrictions. Pricing is on request; the listed plans are Standard, Plus, and Enhanced.
