| Deployment | The download page provides Docker images for Hop and Hop Web and a Helm chart for Kubernetes; Hop Web is described as work in progress and provided as-is. | Soda offers three deployment models based on infrastructure and data privacy needs. |
| Integrations | Listed integrations include PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks, MongoDB, Neo4j, Kafka, Cassandra, Salesforce, SAP, Parquet, Avro, S3, Azure Blob, Google Cloud Storage, REST and SFTP. | Soda advertises integrations with data-stack tools, catalogs, orchestration systems, incident-management tools and CI/CD workflows. |
| License | The project says Hop is developed in the open under the Apache License 2.0. | Soda Core changed from Apache 2.0 to Elastic License 2.0 in January 2026; the source remains readable and modifiable but cannot be offered as a competing hosted service. |
| Purpose | Apache Hop is an open source platform for data integration and orchestration, with visual pipelines and workflows. | Soda is a data quality platform for monitoring data quality, catching problems early, understanding issues at source, and taking action. |
| REST API | Hop Server exposes web services for querying server status and managing pipeline and workflow executions. | The reference documentation includes a REST API for managing datasets, running verifications and retrieving results. |
| Security | The security page advises upgrading to a version containing a vulnerability fix because binary patches are not produced for individual vulnerabilities. | Soda’s Trust Center lists SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3, DORA, and GDPR under compliance. |
| Support | Community support is volunteer-based and free, but the project says it cannot promise response times; commercial providers offer services such as SLAs, training, and migration. | Soda lists premium support as an Enterprise feature and provides a support contact at [email protected]. |

In their own words
Apache Hop
Apache Hop is an open-source platform for data integration and orchestration. Its visual canvas lets users assemble pipelines, preview rows at individual steps, and watch live data and metrics during execution. A pipeline can run locally, on Hop Server, on Apache Spark, or on Flink and Dataflow through Apache Beam. Hop includes more than 250 pipeline transforms, more than 80 workflow actions, and support for over 40 database dialects. Listed connections include PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, BigQuery, Kafka, Salesforce, SAP, S3, REST, and SFTP. Teams can switch environments when moving projects from development to production and keep credentials outside pipeline definitions. Apache Hop is free under the Apache License 2.0. It runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows; Hop Web works in modern browsers. Release 2.19.0 requires Java 21. Docker images and a Kubernetes Helm chart are available; Hop Web is work in progress and provided as-is.
Soda
Soda is a data quality platform for monitoring production data, testing data through development and deployment, and investigating issues. Its machine-learning-powered observability looks for unexpected changes without requiring every rule to be set in advance. Teams can test data during development, deployment, transformation, and CI/CD workflows. Data contracts let producers and consumers specify expected schemas, data types, value ranges, and other constraints. Soda lists integrations including Databricks, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Airflow, dbt, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Jira, and PagerDuty, and offers three deployment models for different infrastructure and privacy needs. Its listed database support includes Athena, BigQuery, Databricks SQL, Dremio, DuckDB, Fabric, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Spark Dataframe, Snowflake, SQL Server, Synapse, and Trino. The Free plan is free and includes pipeline testing, metrics observability, and alerting and ticketing integrations. Team is $750 a month; Enterprise has no listed price. Soda lists SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3, DORA, and GDPR under compliance. It was founded in 2019 and lists locations in Chicago, Illinois, and Brussels, Belgium.
