| Documentation | Official documentation includes overview, getting started, user, expression-language, administration, toolkit, walkthrough, developer and REST API guides plus processor references. | Documentation covers connection setup, API keys, functions, action triggering, logs, custom functions, syncing and agent tool exposure with runnable examples. |
| Integrations | The component catalog lists connectors for Kafka, AWS services, Azure services, Google Cloud, databases, HDFS, Elasticsearch, MQTT, Slack, FTP and many other systems. | The catalog lists over 1,000 supported APIs with authorization, rate-limit, pagination and webhook tooling, and allows contributions or requests for additional APIs. |
| Latest release | The download page lists Apache NiFi 2.12.0 released on 2026-09-13 and encourages users to upgrade to NiFi 2. | GitHub release v0.71.13 dated October 14, 2026 added an Agent Playground, remote MCP discovery and execution, new provider integrations and Azure BYOC changes. |
| Purpose | NiFi automates the flow of data between systems, including cybersecurity, observability, event stream, and generative AI data pipelines. | Nango provides infrastructure for building, running, and maintaining integrations between products or AI agents and external APIs. |
| Rating on G2 | 4.2 out of 5 from 26 reviews | 4.5 out of 5 from 67 reviews |
| Security controls | Official documentation describes two-way SSL, pluggable authorization, encrypted sensitive properties and component-level multi-tenant permissions. | Nango states that credentials and data are encrypted in transit and at rest, with RBAC, per-user scopes, tenant isolation and audit trails. |
| Self-hosting | NiFi runs on a laptop or across clustered enterprise servers and stores processing data on local repositories, so sizing depends on flow and repository needs. | The platform can run on Nango Cloud, in a customer cloud through BYOC, or as a self-managed deployment with a limited free self-hosted edition. |
| Support | The project lists a users mailing list and Slack workspace for help, questions, and problem reports. | Free and Pay-as-you-go customers receive in-app chat, while Growth and Enterprise customers receive a private Slack Connect channel staffed by Nango engineers. |
| What it does | Apache NiFi automates data movement between systems through visual, scalable dataflow graphs for routing, transformation and mediation. | Nango is an integration layer that lets products and AI agents connect to more than 1,000 external APIs using code-owned TypeScript functions. |

In their own words
Apache NiFi
Apache NiFi is free, open-source software for automating data movement between systems, including cybersecurity, observability, event stream, and generative AI pipelines. Its browser-based interface lets users design, control, and monitor dataflows and receive feedback. NiFi records and indexes provenance data to track information as it passes through the system. Flow controls include guaranteed delivery, back pressure, prioritized queues, and quality-of-service settings for individual flows. Users can change dataflows while they run, applying updates to affected components without stopping the whole flow. Documented processors connect to Kafka, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, databases, Slack, S3, and Salesforce. Security features include HTTPS, configurable authentication, multi-tenant authorization, and encrypted communications such as TLS and SSH. NiFi runs in a JVM on a host operating system and can be installed from a ZIP archive. It supports clustering and can scale down to edge devices through MiNiFi. The project lists a users mailing list and Slack workspace for questions and problem reports. Its security model assigns users responsibility for operating-system commands and custom code they configure.
Nango
Nango provides infrastructure for building, running and maintaining integrations between products or AI agents and external APIs. It supports authentication, agent tools, webhooks, triggers and managed incremental data syncs, with a catalog listing more than 1,000 APIs. Integrations are built as code, with local development, CI/CD and multiple environments. Authentication options include OAuth 2.0, OAuth 1.0a, API keys, JWT, Basic auth and MCP auth. Nango manages token refresh, encrypts credentials in transit and at rest, and provides tenant isolation. Runtime features include resumable executions, retries, rate-limit handling, logs, metrics and alerts. The Free plan is free and has monthly caps of 10 connections, 10 compute hours and 10GB of data transfer. Pay-as-you-go costs $50 a month, includes $50 in monthly credits, and lists separate rates for connections, compute and data transfer. Self-hosting and custom connectors are supported. Nango says it does not currently offer EU-hosted cloud; Enterprise BYOC instances are available in AWS, GCP or Azure regions.
