Plans
In their own words
Apache Solr
Apache Solr is a free, open-source, self-hosted search platform built on Apache Lucene. It provides full-text, vector, geospatial, and hybrid search through a REST query interface. Documents can be sent over HTTP as JSON, XML, CSV, or binary, with results returned in those formats. Matching supports phrases, wildcards, joins, and grouping; discovery tools include faceting, autocomplete, spelling suggestions, hit highlighting, and result clustering. Solr distributes indexing, replicates data, balances queries, and supports automated failover and recovery. Apache Tika integration extracts rich content such as PDF and Microsoft Word files. Its administrative interface controls instances and exposes cluster state, logs, threads, and metrics. Listed security capabilities include SSL, authentication, and role-based authorization. Solr runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows, with API access, and is licensed under Apache License, Version 2.0. The project describes use from weekend projects to global enterprises. Releases are not scheduled in advance, and versions below 9.10 are end of life without further updates. The Apache Solr plan is free.
Viglet Turing ES
Viglet Turing ES is a self-hosted enterprise search platform that combines semantic navigation, content integrations and generative AI. Its search tools include faceted search, autocomplete, spotlights, targeting rules, result ranking and per-site AI insights. For AI workflows, it supports retrieval-augmented generation over indexed content, LLM instances, agents, tool calling and MCP server integration. Search backends include Apache Solr, Apache Lucene and Elasticsearch. Documented content integrations include Adobe AEM and web crawlers, plus Dumont DEP connectors for databases, file systems and WordPress. The listed LLM provider types include OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Ollama, Amazon Bedrock, Cohere, Mistral and Vertex AI. It offers native sessions, OAuth2 social login and Keycloak single sign-on. Deployment options include Docker, a standalone JAR, source builds, Docker Compose and Kubernetes; it requires Java 21. The free plan costs nothing, and the product is documented as open source under Apache 2.0. The embedded-H2 setup is for local development and evaluation, not production.
