Mimesis
Mimesis is a free, open-source Python library for generating synthetic data across 47 locales. It creates names, addresses, dates, phone numbers, email addresses, financial details, and other values for database population, JSON or XML files, production-data anonymization, and Pandas dataframes. Schema-based generators support nested schemas and related datasets with foreign keys. You can extend generation with custom data providers and field handlers, and integrate with factory_boy or third-party ORM libraries such as mimesis-factory. The library is fully typed and offers editor autocompletion across most of its API. It is distributed as a Python package with pip, Poetry, and Jupyter installation instructions. Documented compatibility is Python 3.10 or newer, including PyPy 3.10; Mimesis 11.1.0 is the final release for Python 3.8 and 3.9. There are no hard dependencies, although some timezone methods need pytz. Mimesis runs on Linux, uses the MIT License, and is self-hosted.
