| Documentation depth | The Learning Center includes getting started tutorials, API design, debugging, testing, mocking, publishing, CLI, administration, billing and on-premises sections. | The documentation site includes quickstarts, protocol guides, API reference, CI/CD guidance, security, governance and troubleshooting material. |
| Mocking | Mock responses can be generated automatically from API specifications without writing mock scripts. | Users can create no-code mocks with request matching rules and customize response status codes, headers, and bodies. |
| Product | Apidog describes itself as an all-in-one API platform for designing, debugging, mocking, testing, and documenting APIs. | Beeceptor is a developer-focused API simulation platform for mocking, service virtualization, contract testing, and controlled failure simulation. |
| Protocols | Documentation lists support for HTTP, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSocket, SOAP and SSE requests. | It supports HTTP, HTTPS, HTTP/2, mTLS, REST/OpenAPI, SOAP, GraphQL, and gRPC. |

| Rating on Trustpilot | 3.4 out of 5 from 4 reviews. | 4.2 out of 5 from 6 reviews. |
| Security | Apidog says it uses AWS hosting, access controls, and encryption, and describes TLS 1.3 encryption for data in transit on its security measures page. | Beeceptor states that it is SOC 2 Type II audited, adheres to ISO 27001, and is GDPR compliant; it says data is encrypted in transit and at rest. |
| Self-hosting | Apidog offers an on-premises edition and documents deployment of its web interface on customer infrastructure. | An on-premises edition runs as Docker-packaged services on a single host, supports optional Kubernetes scaling and can operate air-gapped. |
| What it does | Apidog combines API design, debugging, mocking, automated testing and documentation in one platform. | Beeceptor provides browser-based mock servers and API service virtualization for testing, traffic inspection, integration debugging and controlled failure simulation. |

In their own words
Apidog
Apidog is an API platform for designing, debugging, mocking, testing, and documenting APIs, with GraphQL and SOAP support. Its specification-led workflow can generate request parameters, body content, and mock data, then check responses against specifications. For automated testing, users can arrange request sequences, add assertions, extract variables, and save requests as endpoint cases. It imports Postman data and supports Postman scripts. Database operations include MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle on Free; ClickHouse, MongoDB, and Redis are listed for paid tiers. The CLI can connect to Jenkins, GitHub, and GitLab, and activity notifications can go to Slack or webhook-compatible tools. Deployment choices include Global and Europe SaaS services and an on-premises option hosted on customer servers. Apidog says desktop requests travel directly from the user's computer to the target server, not through Apidog servers. The free plan is time-unlimited for four users; paid plans start at $9/user/mo (annual), with a 14-day trial.
Beeceptor
Beeceptor is a developer-focused API simulation platform for mocking services, virtualizing them, testing contracts, and simulating failures. It supports HTTP, HTTPS, HTTP/2, mTLS, REST/OpenAPI, SOAP, GraphQL, and gRPC. Users can build no-code mocks with request-matching rules and set response status codes, headers, and bodies. Uploading an OpenAPI specification can create a populated mock server with AI-generated data. Beeceptor can proxy requests to live backends, record traffic, and switch to mock behavior when a backend is unavailable. Latency, timeouts, and errors can be simulated to check client resilience. Its CLI exposes a localhost service through a public HTTPS URL and runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Management APIs support mock-server configuration, while MCP connectivity supports AI agents including Claude and Cursor. API Connections store OAuth credentials and generate tokens for outbound requests. Beeceptor says it is SOC 2 Type II audited, adheres to ISO 27001, and complies with GDPR; it also says data is encrypted in transit and at rest. The free plan has public endpoints, a 1 MB request payload limit, and cleanup rules for unclaimed endpoints.
