In their own words
Aplazo
APLAZO lets people pay for purchases in participating online and physical stores across Mexico in installments without a credit card. Customers can use online checkout, scan a QR code in a physical store, or generate an in-app virtual card for a selected store and purchase amount. Depending on the store, account and purchase, schedules include 1, 3, 5, 8 or up to 12 biweekly installments. Eligible purchases over $5,000 MXN may qualify for monthly payments of 3, 6 or 12 months when APLAZO is offered directly by the merchant. Virtual-card purchases remain biweekly, and the card will not work at a different store. Before confirming, customers can review payment amounts, dates, total cost and applicable charges; early payments are available in the app. Registration requires identification, a selfie, a mobile number and personal details, but prior credit history is not required. Spending amounts and terms depend on the account and purchase. The service is listed as free and is available on Android, iOS, web and API. Merchants can use integrations, a developer API and a PrestaShop module.
PayJustNow
PayJustNow lets shoppers split purchases into instalments at participating South African online and in-store retailers. Pay in 3 charges one third at checkout and collects the other two payments automatically on the shopper’s salary date. The plan is listed at free, with 0% interest and no fees when paid on time. Signup requires a valid South African ID, South African cellphone number and email address, and a South African-issued Visa or Mastercard. Pay in 12 divides a purchase into 12 monthly payments: the first is paid upfront, and the other 11 are collected by debit order. Its personalised interest rate is shown when an account is opened, and it is available for online purchases at participating partner stores in South Africa. The Android, iOS, and web app includes QR checkout, exclusive offers, in-app support, and a wallet for store-approved returns. Late or missed payments may incur fees; missed Pay in 12 payments may also be reported to the Credit Bureau.
