Apple Podcasts vs FluidCast

Apple Podcasts is a podcast app and service for finding, following, and listening to shows across Apple devices, the web, Windows via iTunes, CarPlay, HomePod, smart speakers, and supported car systems. Millions of shows are free, and episodes can be downloaded for offline listening; new episodes from followed shows can download automatically. It supports video podcasts and private feeds, with listening synced across devices. Transcripts in select languages can be read and searched, navigated by chapter, or used to jump to a point in an episode. Premium shows, episodes, and channels may have monthly or annual subscriptions, with prices set by creators. Subscriber benefits can include ad-free listening, bonus or unreleased content, and other subscriber-only material. Subscriptions can be shared with up to five people through Family Sharing. Creators have production, analytics, audience connection, and subscription tools. They receive 70% initially and 85% after one year of paid service, excluding applicable taxes; other podcast revenue, including advertising, goes to the creator.

FluidCast is a podcast player for listening across devices, with search for podcasts and episodes, curated categories, and cross-device sync on Pro. Playback controls include variable speed, silence skipping, a sleep timer, and chapter support. Listeners can read, search, and navigate full episode transcripts. Voice Lift boosts quieter voices, and the app can play audio files stored on a device without streaming. The Free plan includes offline downloads, background playback, playback history, transcripts, Voice Lift, local file playback, and CarPlay and Android Auto support. Pro adds cloud sync for subscriptions, playback position, and settings, plus queue editing, bookmarks, podcast folders, and Apple Watch support. Its on-device AI ad skipping may be inaccurate and use more battery; on iOS it requires Apple Intelligence on iOS 26 or later. FluidCast is listed for web, iOS, macOS, Android, Windows, and Linux. Pro Monthly is £2.49 per month with a one-month free trial; Lifetime is listed at £89.99 per month.
