In their own words
Archon Data Store
Archon Data Store is a Lakehouse-based archival platform for enterprises that need to retain historical data without keeping legacy systems available for access. It organizes records across hot, warm, and cold storage tiers, with codec workflows, tier migration, and compression of up to 80%. Its write-once, read-many architecture supports retention-enforced immutability, chain of custody, and immutable audit logs. Governance features include automated retention and legal holds, approval-based purge workflows, quality tracking, encryption, redaction, and defensible disposition. Users can search with SQL and metadata across applications and use e-discovery workflows. Analytics and AI-driven insights can run on archived data without first restoring it to a live system. The platform connects to enterprise systems through open APIs and ETL connectors, and retrieval is available through Trino and Spark query engines, dashboards, SQL, or APIs. Deployment can span cloud archival storage, object storage, on-premises systems, and SaaS environments. Pricing is available on request.
Fedora Repository
Fedora Repository is open-source software for storing, managing, and preserving digital content, primarily as a backend component rather than a complete end-user application. It exposes digital objects and metadata through RESTful APIs. Fedora can store any file type and size, without restrictions on metadata schemas or data models; metadata is RDF by default, and it supports any ontology or vocabulary. Preservation features include OCFL-based persistence, automated fixity checks and checksums, and versioning. Its design follows the OAIS reference model (ISO 14721). Storage options include a local filesystem and Amazon S3, and listed integrations include Samvera, PHAIDRA, Islandora, and ARGOS (OpenAIRE). Fedora uses standards including Linked Data Platform, Memento, WebAC, Solid, REST, and OCFL. It runs on systems with a modern Java runtime, including Linux, macOS, and Windows, and supports Docker images. The software is freely available under the Apache 2.0 License; voluntary institutional contributions help support the program.
