In their own words
Arkivum
Arkivum is a browser-based SaaS archive for organizations that need long-term data retention and digital preservation. It combines safeguarded storage, preservation copies, search, controlled access and migration support to help keep archived material usable. Data is kept in at least two geographic locations, with a third optional, and receives automated integrity checks alongside immutable storage. Hosting is on AWS, with locations aligned to customer data-sovereignty requirements and an optional Azure escrow copy.
Arkivum can create preservation copies for well over one hundred common file formats while retaining original files. Its browser dashboard supports standard and custom metadata search, full-text search for certain formats, file previews and metadata validation. SharePoint and OneDrive connect through Office 365 integration, while an open API supports other integrations. Regulated archive controls include encryption, audit trails, retention rules, legal holds, access controls and optional SSO. Arkivum targets life sciences, scientific research, cultural institutions and corporate archives, and says it typically works with organizations retaining data for at least 10 years. Pricing and package are tailored to each customer.
RODA
RODA is a long-term digital repository for ingesting, managing, preserving and providing access to digital content. Its functions cover the main units of the OAIS reference model. Ingest workflows validate submission packages, scan for viruses, identify formats and extract technical metadata; they can also migrate files to more preservable formats. Users can search and browse a catalogue using descriptive metadata and text extracted from documents. Repository managers can manage representation information and risks, define retention and disposal policies, and run preservation actions including format conversion, checksum verification and virus checks. RODA records PREMIS metadata for object actions, monitors integrity and logs human and software interactions. It supports OAIS, METS, EAD, Dublin Core, PREMIS and E-ARK Information Package specifications, and exposes functionality through a REST API. Integration options include filesystem packaging, relational database extraction with DBPTK, APIs and drop folders. The site describes its services as scalable across multiple servers and suitable for organizations with millions of digital objects. Community Edition is free at free and is intended for mid-sized organizations; commercial plugins, integrations and professional support are excluded.
