Overview

Ashore is a proofing platform for teams that need feedback and sign-off on digital creative work. It is best suited to agencies, marketing departments, and print or promotional apparel businesses managing varied assets. Its broad format support and revision tools are compelling; small file allowances on lower plans make growth costs worth weighing.

Automated approval workflows, collaboration, and version control keep review activity together. Smart Review highlights changes between uploaded versions, while an audit trail records proof activity such as emails and new versions. That combination is useful when teams need to track both revisions and the path to approval.

Ashore began as an internal product at Brandcave, a creative agency in Austin, and is headquartered in Georgetown, Texas.

Key features

Reviews across media

Ashore supports images, PDFs, video, audio, HTML, live websites, DOCX, and TXT. Timestamped comments on video and audio let reviewers tie feedback to a particular moment, rather than leave a broad note that others must interpret.

Revision and approval controls

Smart Review compares versions and marks changes, which can help reviewers concentrate on what is new. Automated workflows and version history support repeatable approval processes; guest reviewers let teams bring in outside feedback without treating every participant as an included paid user.

Integrations and branded proofs

Direct plugins for Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, along with Zapier connections and a REST API, offer routes for connecting proofing to creative work and other systems. Custom domains, logos, and integrated email let teams present reviews under their own branding.

Pricing

Ashore has a free plan and paid plans starting at $15/user/mo. The free tier is free, forever, and includes one user, 30 files per month, and 1 GB of storage. It is a modest way for a solo user to try a limited volume, but the monthly file cap and single seat constrain ongoing team use.

Starter costs 15.00 USD per month and includes one user and 150 files per month per user; additional users are $15/month per additional user. It suits an individual with more regular proofing needs, but the base plan does not include a second seat. Standard costs 46.00 USD per month for three included users, with 150 files per month per user and additional users at $15/month per additional user. It is the more practical starting point for a small team, and includes one free training.

Premium costs 199.00 USD per month and includes five users; additional users cost $23/month per additional user. Across paid plans, the per-user charges mean seat growth can raise the bill; compare included users with the actual review team, not just the starting price.

Platforms

Ashore supports Android, iOS, web, and API access. The mix covers mobile and browser use as well as programmatic integration.

Who it's for

Ashore is a strong fit for creative agencies and marketing teams that review multiple media types, need timestamped feedback, or want branded client-facing proofs. Print and promotional apparel businesses are also among its intended users. A solo user can start on Free, while teams should assess the monthly file quota and included seats against their volume. Organizations that need higher-user counts should account for additional-user pricing.

Support is available by email and phone Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–4:30 PM CT. Email responses arrive within 24 hours during business hours, a defined support window that may not suit teams needing round-the-clock assistance.

Pros and cons

Pros: Broad file support, including live websites, documents, audio, and video, can bring varied reviews into one workflow.
Pros: Timestamped media comments and version comparisons make feedback more precise and revision-focused.
Pros: Plugins, Zapier, an API, branded review experiences, and audit trails address integration, presentation, and record-keeping needs.
Cons: Free is limited to one user and 30 files per month, so it is a narrow ongoing option.
Cons: Starter includes only one user, while added seats cost extra; even Standard's three included users may not cover a growing team.

Alternatives

Consider Ziflow if a larger free reviewer pool matters: its free plan includes two users, unlimited proofs and reviewers, 2GB of storage, one workflow stage, and 60 days of review history. Artwork Flow is another free option, with three users, unlimited guest reviewers, 2 GB of storage, and 20 creative reviews per month.

StreamWork offers a free plan for two users with unlimited proof links and free reviewers, alongside one workspace and one project. Filestage may suit a team that prefers a defined project-based free allowance: its plan includes one active project, five new files per month, two reviewer groups, ten team members, and 2 GB of storage.

MediaBeacon is an alternative with cloud or on-premise deployment. Notism is another proofing option to compare. ReviewStudio offers a free Starter plan with unlimited users and guests, three active reviews total, and 5 GB of storage. Workflow has a free plan with unlimited projects and reviewers, with its first projects free for 14 days.

Verdict

Ashore is a sensible choice for creative and marketing teams that need to approve mixed media, pinpoint feedback on video and audio, and keep a record of revisions and proof activity. Its strongest case is the breadth of review tools and file support; its main drawback is the tight free tier and seat-based cost as teams expand. Choose it when those review controls fit your workflow, but compare alternatives if a larger free allowance or more predictable team capacity matters more.
