AskSia
AskSia solves homework problems in math, science, engineering, business, and computer science, with step-by-step explanations. Students can type, paste, photograph, or speak a problem, and the solver supports LaTeX input. Its Solver page lists more than 184 topic-specific solvers. After a solution, students can ask for alternate methods, practice problems, and flashcards. The service is available on Android, iOS, the web, as a Chrome extension, and on macOS and Windows. The web app lists exports to PDF, DOCX, Notion, and Google Docs. The extension lists integrations with Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, Moodle, Everytime, CyberCampus, Echo360, and Panopto; it is read-only and does not share the user's LMS password with AskSia. The free plan at free includes daily problem solves, step-by-step solutions, and photo input. AskSia says it is intended for high school students and students in their first two years of university. Its agreement prohibits cheating or plagiarism and advises against use during tests or exams.
Photomath
Photomath is a mobile app for working through math problems on Android and iOS. It can scan a problem with a device camera or accept input through its smart calculator, then show a step-by-step solution. It can handle word problems as well as other math questions, and a scan may offer multiple methods to choose from. Its listed subject range spans elementary math through college math, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics and calculus. Interactive graphs can be zoomed and tapped for information, with definitions available in context. The free Basic plan includes step-by-step explanations; Photomath Plus adds custom visual aids and extra “how” and “why” tips, with Animated Tutorials and teacher-approved definitions also listed as Plus features. A free trial may be offered, but a subscription trial converts to paid billing unless canceled before it ends. Plus is listed at $9.99 per month or $69.99 per year. Paid Services are billed through Google Play or the iOS App Store, and use is limited to personal, non-commercial purposes.
