Overview

MobyMax connects student assessments to lessons, then gives teachers tools to track progress. The maker says its curriculum spans 115 modules across K–8 and aligns with state standards. With content across subjects, it can serve as a broader learning platform rather than a math-only practice app.

Teachers can examine standards data by student, class, school or district. That range makes the product relevant to both classroom instruction and school oversight, though family users are less likely to need the institutional reporting levels.

Key features

Assessments and adaptive lessons

Skill Checker, Placement Tests and state-standards-based Benchmarker tests help identify what students know and where gaps remain. MobyMax then assigns lessons based on diagnostic results and progress. That link between assessment and practice can help teachers direct attention without manually matching every student to a lesson, while teachers retain responsibility for interpreting progress and deciding what to address.

Teaching and progress monitoring

Progress updates are available in real time, with standards data viewable across individual students and larger groups. Interactive Class tools support live lessons using MobyMax’s curriculum. This combination is useful for teachers who want both individual practice and whole-class instruction within the same platform.

Roster access, privacy and support

Schools can roster automatically through Clever or ClassLink, use Google Classroom credentials for sign-in, or import a CSV. Clever has strict scale and continuity conditions: access requires a schoolwide or districtwide license, or licenses for at least 100 students, and ongoing syncing requires at least 11 active students per school. Smaller implementations may need another roster route.

MobyMax says it complies with COPPA and FERPA, does not collect students’ home addresses, Social Security numbers or dates of birth, and uses security measures including encryption. It also hosts free live training webinars several times a week. These are useful provisions for school adoption, though they do not replace a school’s own privacy and implementation review.

Pricing

MobyMax uses a freemium model, with a limited free educator version and paid plans for families and institutions. The free versions cost 0.00 USD per free and carry no obligation, but access is limited compared with licensed features; they are better for trying a smaller slice of the platform than for assuming full licensed functionality.

Family: 7.99 USD per month, billed monthly, for K–8 subjects. This is the clearest fit for a household seeking ongoing subject access without buying a school license.
MAX Schoolwide License: 4795.00 USD per year for unlimited teachers and students for one year. This suits a school that needs broad access across its community, but the fixed annual cost makes it a poor fit for a small group.
MAX Districtwide License: custom pricing for unlimited teachers and students.
MobyMax Schoolwide License: 4795.00 USD per year for one school, with unlimited teachers and students.
MobyMax Districtwide License: custom pricing, billed one year, for all schools in a district and unlimited teachers and students; the plan can save up to 20% off schoolwide pricing.

The family plan is billed monthly, while the schoolwide plans are annual. A 30-day trial is offered, which gives prospective users a period to evaluate the product before committing. Institutional buyers should compare the districtwide quote with the schoolwide cost and consider Clever’s student-count and syncing thresholds when planning adoption.

Platforms

MobyMax supports Android, iOS, macOS, web and Windows. Its remote-learning guidance says it works on devices with a browser and internet connection, without additional hardware or operating-system requirements. Offline access is not available, so students need an internet connection to use it.

Who it's for

MobyMax is best suited to K–8 teachers and schools that want diagnostic assessment, adaptive lesson assignment and progress tracking across classes or districts. Parents and homeschool families can use its subject coverage through the family plan. Schools with fewer than 100 licensed students should not count on Clever integration, and those wanting offline learning should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros: Assessments feed into adaptive lesson assignments, connecting diagnosis with practice.
Pros: Progress monitoring spans students through districts, supporting both classroom and administrative oversight.
Pros: Live lesson tools, several roster routes, and free training webinars support school use.
Cons: The educator free version has limited access compared with licensed features.
Cons: Schoolwide pricing is 4795.00 USD per year, a sizable commitment for smaller programs.
Cons: Clever integration has minimum licensing and active-student thresholds, and offline access is unavailable.

Alternatives

For younger learners focused on math, Monster Math offers Android, iOS and web access, a free plan and Premium at 59.99 USD per year; choose it when a math app rather than a broad K–8 school platform is the priority. SplashLearn offers a free plan and an annually billed Family subscription at 7.49 USD per month, with a Preschool-to-Grade 5 curriculum library and premium live classes; it may suit families prioritizing that grade range and live-class component.

Brilliant has a free tier of two lessons or practice sets per day and a group annual plan with three seats included; its narrower free allowance may suit readers seeking a daily-limited option. GeoGebra is a free, multi-platform alternative. ALEKS is a paid alternative with a 19.95 USD per month one-month individual subscription and access to all courses one course at a time. Cuemath is another paid alternative, with a free trial and annual plans for younger grades.

MathScore offers free K–8 topics at every grade level and a paid option starting at 9.95 USD per month for the first paid student; it may be a closer fit for readers seeking grade-specific math topics. Waggle Math is a paid K–8 math practice alternative priced at 10.00 USD per contact, with final pricing depending on account and contract details.

Verdict

Choose MobyMax if you need K–8 assessments, adaptive lessons and teacher progress monitoring together, especially across a school or district. Its breadth and reporting are the main reasons to choose it; the limited educator free version, annual schoolwide price and Clever thresholds are reasons to look elsewhere for small groups, offline use or a low-commitment start.
