Overview

ASOTools is an app store optimization and app data service for iOS and Android apps, with coverage across 46 countries and 56 categories. That reach is useful when a team needs to compare markets rather than focus on a single store or region. The value is in bringing app-level signals, keyword work and market rankings together; the practical trade-off is that frequent investigation consumes daily quotas on lower plans.

Key features

App and market analytics

App analytics include store details, localized product previews, developer profiles, review and rating changes, download trends and estimated revenue. Download and revenue rankings are organized by country and category, alongside store charts and market trends. This combination helps users move from an individual listing to a wider market view. Popular apps and apps added to a subscription are updated daily, a useful cadence for monitored titles, though not a daily-update promise for every app.

Keyword research and tracking

Keyword tools cover search volume, difficulty, popularity, coverage, rankings and suggestions for Google Play and the App Store. Keyword tracking, competitor tracking and listing localization make the service relevant beyond one-off discovery: teams can monitor rivals and consider localized store listings as part of ongoing ASO work. The free Chrome extension adds Google Play marketing metrics and keyword analysis, including monthly download and review-change estimates, current version and publish date. Its keyword checker examines at most 10 top-ranked keywords per app, so it is a useful quick view rather than a substitute for deeper keyword research.

API and data handling

ASOTools supports data API integration and offers API service cooperation, making it a possible fit for teams that need to incorporate app data into other workflows. The homepage says data is transmitted with end-to-end encryption and payments are processed through Stripe; its privacy policy describes encryption for electronic financial transactions and password- and firewall-protected storage for personal information. It also states a commitment to GDPR compliance, including data-rights measures, breach notification and a designated Data Protection Officer. These commitments matter to teams assessing data handling, though they do not replace their own security review.

Pricing

ASOTools has a free plan and a free extension, but the free plan allows only 3 search queries daily. That makes it appropriate for occasional checks, not sustained research. The Basic plan costs 9.00 USD per month and provides 10 app searches, 20 keyword searches and 50 detail views daily, with download and revenue rankings capped at the Top 200. It suits light recurring work, but the daily limits can constrain broader market scans.

Growth costs 59.00 USD per month and raises the allowances to 100 app searches, 200 keyword searches and 500 detail views daily, with tracking for 10 apps. Its 3-day trial costs $1. This is the clearest fit for a small team monitoring a defined portfolio while doing regular research. Business costs 299.00 USD per month and offers unlimited keyword and app searches and detail popups, tracking for 30 apps, and download and revenue estimates covering 180 days. It suits heavier research and a larger tracked portfolio; teams needing more than 30 tracked apps should confirm fit before choosing it. The listed Business tier does not state a seat allowance.

Platforms

ASOTools is available on the web, through an API and as a browser extension. Its stated market coverage includes Android and iOS apps, while the free Chrome extension is specifically for Google Play. This combination can serve teams that want browser-based research or data integration, but the extension’s metrics should not be mistaken for cross-store coverage.

Who it's for

ASOTools is aimed at individual developers, small and medium businesses, and enterprises working with apps. Its breadth makes it a strong candidate for developers and ASO teams that compare store performance across countries, need both app and keyword signals, or want rankings alongside listing-level analysis. Developers making only occasional checks may be better served by the free tier; teams with high query needs or extensive tracking should weigh its caps against their portfolio size.

Pros and cons

Pros: Coverage across 46 countries and 56 categories supports cross-market comparisons for both Android and iOS apps.
Pros: App analytics, keyword research, rankings, keyword and competitor tracking, and listing localization bring several ASO tasks into one service.
Pros: A free plan and free Google Play extension allow limited research without a paid subscription.
Cons: The free plan's 3 daily searches and the Basic plan's daily search and view caps make frequent exploration difficult on cheaper tiers.
Cons: The extension checks at most 10 top-ranked keywords per Google Play app, limiting its use for broad keyword discovery.
Cons: Business tracks 30 apps, so teams with larger portfolios should verify whether the tier meets their monitoring needs.

Alternatives

For a wider comparison, browse App Store Optimization Software. Consider ASO.dev if you need broader platform availability, including desktop operating systems, and prefer a paid plan with per-seat pricing; its Console plan is 15.00 USD per month billed yearly at 180 USD per year, with 19 USD per month also shown. ASOdesk is another freemium option, with a free tier that includes 200 keywords, one application, one teammate, nine competitor apps per country and 100 API credits per month. MobileAction offers a free plan oriented around its CMP, including a $10,000 monthly ad-spend figure, unlimited data retention and one seat. AppBrain is worth considering for Android-focused work: its free plan includes up to 20 tracked keywords, basic app details, a developer overview and browsing more than 2 million app pages. APPlyzer has a free Basic tier with 100 keywords and unlimited apps, competitors, countries and languages, but limited search-score access. AppTweak offers a free Market Intelligence Starter plan with three seats, past-month historical data, and download and revenue estimates. ASOMobile is another freemium alternative, while ASOStacks has a free plan with 10 tracked keywords, two tracked apps, daily rank checks and 20 keyword researches per day.

Verdict

ASOTools is a good fit for developers and ASO teams that want app analytics, keyword work and country-level rankings in one place, particularly when they operate across both major app stores. Its broad geographic coverage and free entry point make it easy to start; its main drawback is that active research depends on paid daily quotas, and the Business tracking allowance remains finite. Choose it when cross-market visibility matters more than unlimited portfolio tracking. Look elsewhere if your workload outgrows the search caps or requires more tracked apps.
