Astro Starlight
Astro Starlight is a free documentation theme built on the Astro framework. It provides site navigation, full-text search, internationalization, SEO, code highlighting, and dark mode. Authors can write in Markdown and extend the setup for MDX and Markdoc. Components from React, Vue, Svelte, Solid, and other frameworks can be added. Starlight works with Astro integrations and plugins, including community options and an official Algolia DocSearch plugin that can replace Pagefind, the default search provider. Community tools cover uses such as OpenAPI documentation, blogs, comments, and broken-link checking. To start a new site, create an Astro project with a Starlight template; an existing Astro project can add Starlight as an integration. Projects can be created with npm, pnpm, or Yarn and previewed with Astro's development server. The project is MIT licensed and supports documentation versioning. Its Getting Started guide describes Starlight as beta software and recommends regular updates. The documentation directs users to the Astro Discord support forum and Starlight channel for help.
Nuxt
Nuxt is a free, open-source meta-framework for building web applications with JavaScript or TypeScript. It uses hybrid rendering, allowing applications to combine rendering modes within one project. Nuxt targets web development and can be deployed on self-hosted infrastructure. The framework itself has no listed plan charge, and its license model is open-source. Nuxt was founded in 2017. Nuxt is therefore focused on the framework layer rather than bundled data or sign-in components. Developers can evaluate whether hybrid rendering suits their application and whether self-hosting matches their deployment plan. JavaScript and TypeScript support covers either language choice for a web project. The project website is nuxt.com. Its main decision points are rendering approach, deployment responsibility, and the need to provide ORM or authentication components outside the framework.
