In their own words
Audible Magic
Audible Magic provides music fulfillment, content identification, licensing support, and rights administration for digital platforms. Its identification technology analyzes perceptual audio and video characteristics across formats and codecs, without relying on metadata, watermarks, or file hashes. It can identify audio without video and video without audio in live or on-demand content. The company says its algorithms can synchronize content to 25 milliseconds or less.
Audible Magic says its catalog contains over 100 million music tracks and receives 200,000 monthly updates. Its Music Registry includes registrations from over 140,000 music labels in more than 150 territories. APIs support track conflict checks and identification of registered content in live streams. Libraries are supported on Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, and Windows; the company says developers can integrate the Toolkit in a few hours. It names Twitch, SoundCloud, ShareChat, Dailymotion, and Bolo Indya among social media brands using its services. The company describes customers across social platforms, music businesses, publishers, and television, film, and sports businesses. Pricing is available on request.
Snag
Snag is a free iPhone music-identification app built with Apple’s ShazamKit. Every identification attempt saves a short recording, including attempts that find no match. Retry Analysis examines that recording across several time windows and can sometimes identify a song missed initially. The app can capture audio without an internet connection; matching needs a connection and can happen later. Its history records attempt dates and can include location and personal notes. Users can replay recordings, retry identification, open matched songs in Apple Music or Spotify, and share identified songs with a link. History and recordings remain on the iPhone and can sync through the user’s private iCloud account. For matching, the device sends an audio fingerprint directly to Apple’s Shazam Catalog; Snag says it does not see, store, or process that fingerprint. There is no Snag account, advertising tracker, or third-party product analytics. Music history currently lacks search.
