Overview

Lessons span Explore, Create, Collaborate and Quiz modes, using 2D, 3D and AR content. Supported subjects include maths, art and creativity, language, technology, science and social studies. The platform also has a lesson-plan library and an AI voice assistant with support for 13+ languages.

Augmented Classroom was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. It supports lesson authoring and classroom management, so it can serve as more than a library of ready-made activities. The value of those tools depends on plan access: Basic is for one educator on one device, and students cannot join in.

Key features

Four lesson modes: Explore, Create, Collaborate and Quiz give educators different ways to structure participation and check understanding rather than relying on a single activity format.
2D, 3D and marker-based AR: The range of content formats makes the platform suitable for lessons that benefit from visual or spatial material, though marker-based AR is a particular approach rather than a general promise of immersive hardware support.
Lesson authoring and library: Educators can create lessons or draw on existing plans. Basic has limited lesson plans, while Pro offers unlimited plans, making the tier distinction important for teachers building a regular sequence of lessons.
AI voice assistant: Support for 13+ languages may help educators working across languages, although the stated language support alone does not establish how the assistant behaves in every classroom context.
Privacy and security: The company says it does not collect student data and that pupils are not processed or identified when using its solutions. It says transfers use TLS 1.2, stored data uses AES256 encryption, and platform data is hosted in the European Economic Area. Its stated compliance coverage addresses GDPR, COPPA, FERPA and the EU AI Act.
Integrations: CleverBooks content can be integrated with platforms that support different types of integrations, which may help schools fit content into existing systems.

Pricing

The pricing model is freemium, with a free plan, paid plans from $1.99/mo, and a 14-day trial. The plan terms distinguish student access and billing units, so educators should match the price to their expected student count rather than treating it as a flat classroom subscription.

Demo Plan: Free, billed forever. It includes one interactive test, mobile-only access and one user. This is a narrow way to try the product, not a workable ongoing classroom plan.
Trial Plan: Free, billed 14 days. It includes all subjects, all devices and up to 30 students. The student cap and short term make it useful for evaluating a class workflow before committing.
Monthly Plan: 1.99 USD per month, billed $23.88/year, per student/month; the teacher account is free. It includes all subjects and all devices. This suits readers who prefer monthly per-student pricing, but the annualized charge and student-based billing matter when estimating a full class cost.
Yearly Plan: 4.50 USD per year, billed as low as $4.50/year*, per student/year; the teacher account is free. It includes all subjects and all devices, with the stated volume discount. This has a lower quoted per-student annual rate, but the discount depends on volume.

The Basic plan is aimed at educators getting started, while Pro is positioned for homeschool educators or classroom teaching and includes unlimited lesson plans. The School plan is for educators and teacher collaboration; it includes teacher trainings and technical support, with custom pricing. Basic’s single-user, one-device access and lack of student join-in are the key trade-offs for teachers considering it for live classroom use.

Platforms

Augmented Classroom supports web, Windows, iOS and Android. The stated device range covers desktops, laptops, netbooks and mobile devices, giving schools and educators flexibility across common device types. The Demo Plan is mobile-only, so it does not provide a full cross-platform preview.

Who it's for

Educators who want to combine lesson creation, a lesson library and several activity formats should consider Augmented Classroom, especially if AR and multilingual voice assistance are relevant to their teaching. Homeschool educators may find Pro’s unlimited lesson plans useful, while schools may value the School plan’s teacher collaboration, training and technical support.

It is a weaker fit for an educator who needs student participation on the Basic plan, or for someone seeking only a simple AR activity rather than lesson authoring and classroom management. The trial’s allowance of up to 30 students offers a way to assess classroom participation before choosing a paid tier.

Pros and cons

Pros

More than one way to teach a lesson: Four modes and 2D, 3D and marker-based AR content support different kinds of classroom activity.
Authoring plus lesson plans: Educators can create lessons or use the library, with unlimited plans on Pro.
Broad device coverage: Web, Windows, iOS and Android support makes it easier to accommodate mixed device environments.
Defined privacy and security commitments: The company states that it does not collect student data and identifies encryption, EEA hosting and compliance frameworks.

Cons

Basic excludes student join-in: Its single-user, one-device setup limits its usefulness for interactive classroom teaching.
Per-student billing needs careful budgeting: Monthly and yearly plans charge per student, so the total changes with class size.
The free Demo Plan is highly restricted: One interactive test and mobile-only use offer little room to assess a complete teaching workflow.

Alternatives

JigSpace is worth considering for a free cross-platform option if a limit of three active Jigs, three steps, 100MB team storage and two user seats is sufficient.
Merge EDU may suit schools seeking a free classroom-oriented option, with its Classroom plan including both EDU and Creator suites, student seats and classroom management.
Quiver is a more focused choice for AR coloring activities: its free tier includes 10 AR coloring sheets and requires no subscription.
Delightex Edu (formerly CoSpaces Edu) may fit a teacher who wants a free classroom starter tier with up to 29 students, one class and two projects.
TrainAR is a distinct option for readers prioritizing open-source software; it is free for commercial and non-commercial use under the MIT license.
AR Flashcards is an iOS-only alternative for readers who want a free collection of themed AR flashcards and models rather than a broader teaching platform.
Assemblr EDU is another free option for educators who want 3D objects and AR markers, with its free plan including 400 free 3D objects and 30 MB storage per account.
Narrator AR is a free Android and iOS app centered on AR activity pages and characters.

Verdict

Augmented Classroom is a strong candidate for K–6 educators who want lesson authoring, a lesson library, several teaching modes and support across major device platforms. Its combination of content formats and classroom tools is the main reason to choose it; the main reason to look elsewhere is the Basic plan’s lack of student join-in, alongside per-student pricing that requires a class-size calculation. Use the 14-day trial to judge whether the classroom workflow and plan limits fit before committing.
