| Purpose | AuroraBoot is the official Kairos bootstrapper for building images, provisioning machines and managing fleets. | iVentoy is a PXE/HTTPBoot server for booting and installing operating systems on multiple machines over a network. |
| Secure Boot | AuroraBoot includes a SecureBoot key store for PK, KEK, db and TPM PCR policy keys, with signed export and import. | Secure Boot is supported, but the maker says client Secure Boot currently works only on x86_64; bypass mode requires enrolling a key on first boot. |
| Support | Bug reports and feature requests are directed to the kairos-io/kairos issue tracker, and Kairos lists enterprise support contacts on its website. | The maker directs users to the forums for general issues or to longpanda at [email protected]. |

In their own words
AuroraBoot
AuroraBoot is Kairos’s bootstrapper for creating machine images, provisioning systems, and managing fleets. It builds ISO, UKI, raw disk, and system-extension images from Kairos flavors or container images, then supports provisioning by PXE/netboot, Redfish, or USB. Its fleet server pairs a browser dashboard for artifact building, deployment, and node management with a REST API and Go client; API documentation is available through Swagger UI at /api/docs. Registered nodes can receive upgrades, reboots, resets, cloud-config, and shell commands, with command output captured. The guided Artifact Builder offers templates for Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian, openSUSE, Alpine, Rocky, and Hadron. A SecureBoot key store handles PK, KEK, db, and TPM PCR policy keys, with signed export and import. Documented architectures are amd64, arm64, and riscv64. The self-hosted software is free under Apache License 2.0; its fleet server uses SQLite by default and can use PostgreSQL. Docker or a container engine is required. One security consideration: netboot serves files over unauthenticated plain HTTP to reachable clients.
iVentoy
iVentoy is a PXE/HTTPBoot server for booting and installing operating systems on multiple machines over a network. It runs on Windows and Linux, with Linux server builds for x86_64 and ARM64. The maker lists more than 110 supported operating system types, including Windows, WinPE, Linux, Unix, and VMware. Client boot modes include x86 Legacy BIOS and IA32, x86_64, ARM64, and LoongArch64 UEFI. iVentoy boots ISO files directly without extracting them and retains their native boot menu style. It can install different operating systems on multiple clients simultaneously, filter clients by MAC address or architecture, and assign unattended installation scripts to ISO files. Its HTTP server can serve files inside ISOs without unpacking them. The server includes DHCP and can also use third-party DHCP servers, but DHCP Proxy is not supported. Secure Boot is supported, though client Secure Boot currently works only on x86_64. The Free Edition costs nothing, has no usage time limit, and allows up to 20 clients with no commercial use. Pro costs $49, paid once.
