AustLII
AustLII is a free web library for Australasian legal information, established in 1995 by the law faculties of UTS and UNSW and supported by the AustLII Foundation Ltd. Its collections include cases, legislation, treaties, law journals, law reform reports, and other legal content from Australia and New Zealand, including New Zealand material from the New Zealand Legal Information Institute. Users can search all databases together, search them separately, filter by jurisdiction, or work within one database. Search syntax includes Boolean connectors, proximity operators, truncation, and phrase searching. The integrated LawCite citator follows citations to Australian cases, journal articles, and other materials across AustLII and collaborating legal information institutes. Document pages offer print, download, and cited-by links. The responsive site is intended for current device types. AustLII identifies law librarians, academic researchers, practitioners, government officers, and policy advisers among its users.
Midpage
Midpage is a legal research platform and data provider for litigators and legal technology teams working with US primary law. It searches case law, statutes, regulations, and agency guidance through manual tools or an AI research agent. Users can draft briefs and memos from research and uploaded documents, check citations, and use an AI citator to see how later courts treated an opinion. Midpage states its collection includes 16M+ published and unpublished opinions with metadata, alongside statutes and regulations from all 50 states. It integrates with Claude, ChatGPT, and Perplexity for source-grounded research and drafting; legal data and retrieval tools are available through APIs, MCP, or a database connection. Midpage says safeguards are independently validated through annual SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA audits. Customer data is encrypted at rest and in transit and is not used to train or fine-tune AI models. A 14-day trial is listed; the paid Law Student plan costs $25 a month for one seat before tax and requires proof of US law-school enrollment or employment.
