In their own words
Auth0 Guardian
Auth0 Guardian is a mobile app for completing multi-factor authentication on iOS and Android. During login, users can approve a push notification on an enrolled device or enter a temporary one-time password. Guardian-generated OTPs normally remain valid for 30 seconds. The app supports multiple languages and dialects, follows the device language by default, and offers system, light, and dark themes. Users can protect it with a passcode, passphrase, or device biometrics. Organizations can use Guardian SDKs to build similar applications or add Guardian capabilities to their own apps. Push delivery can use AWS SNS, Firebase Cloud Messaging, or Apple Push Notification service. Auth0 MFA API endpoints can enforce MFA at token endpoints and manage enrolled factors. Guardian is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The free plan is available; paid plans start at 35 /mo, with a 22-day trial.
SpiderOak
SpiderOak provides access governance and secure data exchange for organizations handling critical data and services, including operations at the tactical edge. Its platform is aimed at developers and defense and commercial users in areas such as space, transportation, industrial systems, robotics, automation, and IoT. Access controls include role-based and attribute-based permissions, with the ability to revoke entities or roles. The platform runs as a serverless, asynchronous library on endpoints and works with any transport protocol. Command-line utilities and APIs support configuration, initialization, access control, data exchange, and transport integration. SpiderOak describes its architecture as decentralized and zero-trust, allowing connected endpoints to synchronize governance without centralized infrastructure. Commands are recorded in a distributed, synchronized, cryptographically authenticated, tamper-evident audit log. Separately, SpiderOakONE provides backup, sync, sharing, historical versions, and point-in-time recovery. Its listed plans include unlimited devices, with storage tiers from 150 GB to 5 TB. SpiderOakONE says it cannot read or reset a user's password and warns that losing it can make data unrecoverable. The commercial Team & Enterprise edition includes technical support; the Open Source Software edition does not.
