In their own words
AuthorVoices
AuthorVoices is a web platform for independent authors producing audiobook narration with curated AI voices. Authors can upload EPUB or DOCX files or paste text to start a project. Quick Fix re-narrates a selected passage without replacing the audio around it, and exports are available as MP3 and M4B. Users may create a private cloned voice from a recording after confirming it is their voice or that they have the owner’s written consent. The platform’s distribution channel reaches over 50 audiobook retailers, excluding Audible and Amazon; its terms also say Audible, ACX, and Amazon do not accept third-party AI-narrated audiobooks such as its output. Project-page distribution submission only accepts books built and exported within AuthorVoices. New accounts receive 5,000 narration characters and limited free voice-preview attempts. The service offers a free plan and trial. Paid choices include one-time book purchases and monthly studio plans, with listed plans from $49, paid once and $49 a month. Users retain manuscript ownership, and the terms say manuscripts are not used to train AI models.
BookFoundry
BookFoundry turns an idea or existing content into a book with DOCX, EPUB, and PDF exports. Its listed book types include nonfiction, novels, short story collections, children's stories, memoir and family history, screenplays, and illustrated picture books. The FAQ says books can be written in 18 languages across 49 regional variants. After generation, an editor supports text changes and chapter revisions, with re-exporting at no extra cost. Users can import DOCX, EPUB, TXT, Markdown, or PDF manuscripts, subject to feature availability.
BookFoundry prepares store listing text, keywords, and categories, but does not upload books to stores. Listed outputs include EPUB builds for Kindle, Apple Books, Google Play, Kobo, and Nook, plus DOCX, print-ready PDF, and a high-resolution cover for prose books. The paid one-time bundles are Starter at $14.99, paid once for one credit, Smith Triple at $29.99, paid once for three credits, and Freedom at $99.99, paid once for sixteen credits; credits do not expire. The privacy policy says submitted text may go to Google Gemini, OpenAI, and Anthropic for generation or analysis, and says those providers do not use it to train public models. BookFoundry says human support is available 24/7.
