In their own words
Autoruns
Autoruns shows programs and drivers configured to run during Windows boot, login, or when certain built-in Windows applications start. It reports startup items from locations such as the Startup folder, Registry keys, Explorer extensions, services, scheduled tasks, and Winlogon entries. Users can hide signed Microsoft entries to focus on third-party items, inspect startup images configured for other accounts, and disable an entry or delete its configuration. Scan options include signature verification and VirusTotal hash checks; submitting files not previously scanned requires the upload option, and VirusTotal features require accepting its terms. The download includes Autorunsc, a command-line version that can output CSV or tab-delimited data, verify signatures, and scan an offline Windows system. The Autoruns and Autorunsc download is listed as 3 MB, and Microsoft offers a Sysinternals Live option. Autoruns costs nothing, with no limit on installation or use on devices owned or supported by the user, but no redistribution license. Microsoft says Sysinternals tools are provided as is without official support and points users to a community forum.
Easy File Shredder
Easy File Shredder removes files and folders, wipes free disk space, and scans for deleted-file traces that could remain recoverable. It works with HDDs, SSDs, USB drives, external storage, SD cards, and Compact Flash media. The software offers 13 overwrite methods, including DoD, Gutmann, and VSITR algorithms, along with a one-pass zero method. After a job, reports record the processed items, selected algorithm and security settings, start and finish times, and completion status. Warnings and safeguards are intended to reduce accidental deletion of system files. The maker lists compatibility with Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10, and 11 in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions; Mac is not supported. A trial allows shredding up to 100 files before purchase and activation are required. Computer plans include one year of unlimited updates and cost $29.95 a year for one computer, $39.95 a year for three, $49.95 a year for five, or $59.95 a year for ten. Each license covers one system, is non-transferable, and purchases have no refund policy.
