Overview

Avaloq brings more than 100 financial products and a broad set of banking processes into one platform, from digital channels and client management to investment management, trading, lending, payments, treasury, risk, compliance and analytics. That breadth is useful for institutions seeking connected operations across front and back offices, but it is more platform than a buyer needs for a single narrow function.

Avaloq says more than 170 clients in 35 countries use its solutions. The company was founded in 1985 as BZ Informatik, an IT subsidiary of BZ Bank, and serves private banks, wealth managers, investment managers, retail banks and neobanks.

Key features

Digital channels offer more than 100 features across web and mobile experiences, including facial and fingerprint authentication. This gives institutions a substantial digital banking capability alongside the platform's operational functions.

Trading covers the lifecycle from order management through settlement for exchange-traded, OTC and crypto assets. Payments support major networks and schemes, ISO 20022, instant payments, standing orders, direct debits and card processing. Together, these capabilities make Avaloq relevant to institutions coordinating multiple transaction types, rather than buyers seeking only a front-end channel.

Integration options include system APIs, PSD2 and Open Wealth APIs, data streaming, standard interfaces and certified adapters. Avaloq describes an ecosystem of more than 200 fintechs and providers, with over 7,500 REST API endpoints. That offers a broad integration surface for institutions connecting their own systems and third-party components; it does not remove the need to assess which connections fit a particular environment.

Avaloq says its database architecture centralizes data modifications through a single code base and is designed for high levels of protection. Its cloud delivery is designed to comply with local regulations. Managed services include 24/7 support, continuous monitoring, issue resolution and dedicated global support, which may matter to institutions with round-the-clock operating needs.

Pricing

Avaloq is paid software with custom pricing. The Avaloq platform plan has no published price, and product details are handled by contact. Institutions should request commercial terms directly before comparing total cost; no free plan or trial is described.

The platform plan supports hybrid deployment, loan management, API access, regulatory reporting and multi-entity support. The plan description establishes those capabilities but does not give a published price or seat and usage terms, so buyers should establish scope and commercial conditions with Avaloq.

Platforms

Avaloq supports Android, iOS, web, API and self-hosted environments. Deployment choices include SaaS Go, software as a service, platform as a service and on-premises delivery. This range gives institutions options to align hosting with their operating model, including a ready out-of-the-box SaaS Go route or self-managed deployment. The hybrid plan can suit organizations combining deployment approaches.

Who it's for

Avaloq is aimed at banks and wealth managers, including private banks, investment managers, retail banks and neobanks. It is a strong candidate for institutions that need broad product coverage, multiple deployment choices and integrations across front- and back-office work. Buyers looking for a simple point solution or an immediately comparable public price should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros: Coverage across more than 100 financial products and major front-to-back-office processes can consolidate a wide range of institutional banking work.
Pros: SaaS, platform-as-a-service, on-premises and SaaS Go options give institutions meaningful deployment flexibility.
Pros: APIs, data streaming, adapters and a large provider ecosystem support integration with third-party services.
Cons: Custom pricing requires direct engagement, making early cost comparison less straightforward.
Cons: Its broad institutional scope is unnecessary for organizations seeking only one focused banking capability.

Verdict

Avaloq is a strong fit for banks and wealth managers that need broad banking-process coverage, varied deployment options and extensive integration capabilities. Its main reason to choose is the breadth of operations it brings together; its main reason to look elsewhere is custom pricing, especially if a focused tool or public cost is essential to the decision.
