In their own words
AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry
AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry (ADOT) collects logs, metrics, and traces, with options to send correlated telemetry to one or more observability backends. Applications can be instrumented once, and auto-instrumentation can generate traces without changes to application code. ADOT also gathers metadata from AWS resources and managed services to connect application performance data with infrastructure information. Documented destinations include Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus, Amazon CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, Amazon OpenSearch, OTLP-compliant backends, and Amazon MSK. It supports workloads on AWS App Runner, Lambda, EC2, ECS, EKS on EC2, Fargate, and on-premises datacenters. Getting-started guides cover Go, Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, .NET, PHP, and Android. The project describes ADOT as backed by AWS Support, testing, and certification, and says it contributes changes and fixes to the OpenTelemetry community. ADOT is free and supports cloud and self-hosted deployment. The download page lists Collector version 0.50.0, released August 25, 2026, under the Apache-2.0 license.
Chronosphere Telemetry Pipeline
Chronosphere Telemetry Pipeline collects and routes telemetry for observability and security teams, with tools to transform, enrich and reduce data along the way. It supports logs, metrics, events and traces, although processing rules are more mature for logs. The product includes more than 25 built-in processing rules, and teams can create custom parsing and processing rules using AI natural language. Pipelines can be configured in a low-code or no-code drag-and-drop builder, tested in a Playground, or managed with an optional CLI. Chronosphere lists more than 70 sources and destinations, including Fluent Bit, Datadog, Splunk, Amazon S3 and Azure Event Grid. Its default architecture keeps the data plane in the customer’s environment and the management plane with Chronosphere; it requires an outbound connection to management and no inbound network connection. Chronosphere says it cannot access underlying data processed in the customer environment. A SaaS interface manages Fluent Bit configurations, agent health and updates. Pricing is on request and based on raw data throughput; a free trial is available, with no duration specified.
