Overview

FTP Rush is a free file-transfer and cloud-storage client that brings server connections and popular storage services into one tool. It is best suited to people managing recurring transfers across different endpoints. Its range of protocols and automation tools makes it a strong no-cost option, though Windows users should check the standard download’s .NET requirement.

Key features

FTP Rush supports FTP, FTPS, SFTP, WebDAV, Wing FTP Web Client, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and Amazon S3. That range is useful when work spans conventional servers and cloud storage, reducing the need to move between clients. It can also transfer files between servers using different protocols, with the local computer acting as a bridge. This helps connect otherwise mismatched endpoints, but the computer must remain in the transfer path.

Scheduled transfers and file synchronization support recurring work, while C# scripting, interface functions, and documentation give users building blocks for custom tasks. These are meaningful advantages for repeatable workflows; a user who only needs occasional manual transfers may not benefit as much. Multiple connection tabs and drag-and-drop support everyday handling. Bookmarks, file filters, skip and allow lists, and FTP folder caching add control over destinations and transfer selection.

HTTP and SOCKS5 proxy support includes creating and switching between proxies, a useful option for users who route connections through different proxies. FastUDP targets high-bandwidth, high-latency networks. The maker says it can speed HTTPS transfers up to 30 times in its transoceanic test cases; that claim is specific to those cases, not a general promise for every transfer.

Pricing

FTP Rush costs 0.00 USD per free. The Freeware plan has no paid limits stated, and there is no separate free trial because the product is free. The maker describes it as software that can be unzipped and run without installation, and a portable Windows download is available. There are no paid tiers or seat-based options to weigh against the free edition.

Platforms

FTP Rush supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, and Windows. The download page lists v3.6.7 for Windows, portable Windows, Linux, and Mac OS; the standard Windows download requires .NET Framework 4.6.2 or later. That dependency is worth checking before choosing the standard Windows package, while the portable version suits users who want to run it without installation. Help materials include a manual and release notes; the listed v3.6.7 release is dated 29 June 2026.

Who it's for

FTP Rush is a good fit for users who need one client for several transfer protocols and cloud services, or who want to schedule, synchronize, or script repeatable file tasks. Its server-to-server bridging is particularly relevant when transfers span unlike protocols. For a basic FTP client with fewer workflow demands, a more narrowly scoped alternative may be enough.

Pros and cons

Pro: Broad protocol and service coverage makes it practical for mixed server and cloud-storage workflows.
Pro: Scheduling, synchronization, and C# scripting suit users automating repeatable work.
Pro: Freeware, a portable option, proxy support, and transfer controls offer flexibility without a paid plan.
Con: Server-to-server transfers use the local computer as a bridge, so it is not removed from the transfer path.
Con: The standard Windows download requires .NET Framework 4.6.2 or later.

Alternatives

Browse FTP and SFTP clients to compare more options. FileZilla Client is another free choice for Linux, macOS, and Windows, with FTP, FTPS, and SFTP support; choose it if those protocols and desktop platforms cover your needs. Cyberduck is worth considering if you want a GPL-licensed client with source code available on GitHub and use macOS or Windows.

CrossFTP offers a free client and paid Pro and Enterprise plans with custom pricing; it also has a free trial. WinSCP is a free, open-source Windows client supporting SFTP, FTP, FTPS, SCP, WebDAV, and S3, making it a focused alternative for Windows users needing those protocols. SmartFTP is a paid Windows client with a free trial. lftp is free software for Linux. Core FTP offers a free option and paid single-user licenses. NcFTP is a free client for Linux, macOS, and Windows.

Verdict

Choose FTP Rush if you want a free client that combines broad protocol and cloud-service coverage with scheduling, synchronization, scripting, and portable use. Its strongest case is the ability to handle varied endpoints and recurring tasks without a paid tier. Look elsewhere if you need to keep server-to-server transfers off your local computer, or if the standard Windows download’s .NET requirement is a poor fit.
