| Background replacement | Outputs can use transparency, a custom RGB color or a supplied background image. | Finished clips can receive a solid color, blur, image, or video background and be exported as MP4. |
| Privacy | The hosted service says uploads are deleted after two hours, converted files after 24 hours, and conversion IP logs after one hour. | The maker says uploaded footage is not used to train its models or its processing provider's models. |
| Security | The site says it processes files securely and automatically deletes them, and its privacy policy specifies separate deletion periods for uploaded and converted files. | The privacy policy states that traffic uses TLS, footage is encrypted at rest, and production data access is restricted to operators who need it. |
| What it does | BackgroundRemover uses AI to remove backgrounds from images and video through a command-line tool. | BGRemove separates a video subject from its background and returns a video containing an alpha channel. |

In their own words
BackgroundRemover
BackgroundRemover uses AI to remove image and video backgrounds, with options for people, general subjects, or faster processing. Images can be refined with alpha matting or mask output, then given a color or image background; video output can be transparent MOV, matte key, GIF, or a composite over another image or video. Its command-line formats include JPG, JPEG, PNG, HEIC, and HEIF images, and MP4, MOV, WebM, OGG, and GIF video. The open-source project can be installed locally for free with pip or from source, and it offers a local HTTP API as well as a hosted REST API with examples in Python, PHP, JavaScript, and C#. GPU detection is automatic, with CPU fallback when needed. The Free plan is free and allows one standard-resolution transparent PNG image daily, short videos, and ads, without batch processing. Pro (annual) is $9 a year, billed at US$ 108.0 annually; Pro (monthly) is $12 a month.
BGRemove.video
BGRemove.video is a free web service that removes video backgrounds and exports transparent clips with an alpha channel. It accepts MP4, MOV, WebM, M4V, and GIF uploads up to 60 seconds and 2 GB. Its AI follows subjects across frames to reduce flicker and keep edges stable during movement. Transparent output is WebM using VP9 alpha, with the source dimensions preserved. You can place a solid color, blur, image, or video behind a processed clip and export an MP4 without consuming another removal allowance. The free plan costs nothing and allows three successful removals per 24-hour window, with no watermark. Files are processed in the EU and retained for 24 hours, or deleted sooner when requested. Google is the only sign-in option. The maker says uploads are not used to train its models or its provider’s models. Manual edge refinement is unavailable, and glass, smoke, fine mesh, depth-swapping overlaps, and severely underexposed footage are difficult cases.
