Overview

IK Multimedia ReSing is a desktop plug-in and standalone app for replacing vocal takes with modeled voices and transforming vocal or instrumental tracks. It is best suited to producers who want voice conversion and model creation in a local workflow. Its appeal is the combination of voice shaping and custom models; its main trade-off is that model-generation limits depend on the license.

Key features

Voice shaping and custom models

Transpose, character, accent, dynamic range and two-model fusion give users several ways to reshape a converted performance. Preview and built-in effects round out that workflow, but they do not remove the need to choose a suitable source take and model.

ReSing Modeler creates voice or instrument models locally. The included generation allowance is modest on the Free and standard licenses, while the Unlimited Model Generation add-on removes that count limit for ReSing or ReSing MAX owners. Audio transformation stays on the computer rather than being sent to external servers, according to IK; authorization still requires an internet connection.

Doubling, languages and integration

The Doubling add-on generates vocal doubles, backing vocals and stacks, with controls for timing, detuning, stereo width, volume and pan. That makes it relevant for arranging vocal layers, though it is an add-on rather than a feature to assume is included with every license.

English, Spanish and Japanese are listed for model support. Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese voice packs add models and model-creation language support for those languages. IK says its voice datasets use original recordings made with participating singers under agreements, rather than copyrighted songs, samples or third-party materials.

ReSing supports Audio Units, VST 3 and AAX on macOS, and VST 3 and AAX on Windows. ARA2 mode is listed for Cubase 12 or later, Logic Pro X 10.4 or later on Intel, Studio One 4 or later, Nuendo 11 or later, and Reaper 5.97 or later. This is useful for compatible DAW workflows, but the host and version requirements matter before purchase.

Pricing

ReSing uses a free tier and one-time paid licenses, with no free trial. ReSing Free costs 0.00 USD per free and includes 2 voices, 2 instruments and 1 RVC import, with no model generation. It is a practical way to try a narrow set of included models, but not a route to custom model creation.

ReSing costs 129.99 USD per once as a one-time payment. It includes 10 voices, 10 instruments and 10 model generations, with limited imports. This is the more suitable entry point for users who need custom models but can work within a finite allowance.

ReSing MAX costs 199.99 USD per once as a one-time perpetual license. It includes 25 voices, 25 instruments, 25 model generations and unlimited imports. Choose it over standard ReSing if the larger model library and import allowance justify the additional upfront cost.

The Unlimited Model Generation Add-on for ReSing costs 149.99 USD per once and requires ReSing or ReSing MAX. It removes the generation-count limit, making sense for owners who expect to create models beyond their license allowance; it is not a standalone substitute for either license.

A ReSing Session is a one-time purchase for one month of access to a selected Showcase model, with no automatic renewal, and can be activated on one device at a time. That is a narrower option for a short project or a specific model rather than ongoing access.

Platforms

ReSing runs on macOS 13.7 or newer and Windows 10 64-bit or newer, with a minimum of 8 GB RAM and 9 GB of disk space. The operating-system floor and storage requirement make it worth checking a production machine before committing. The application is available both as a plug-in and as standalone software.

Who it's for

ReSing is aimed at producers who want to replace vocal takes, transform instruments, create local voice or instrument models, or build layered vocal parts. Its local processing and stated dataset sourcing approach may also suit users who prioritize keeping audio on their own computer and want to consider how training recordings were obtained.

It is less compelling for someone who only needs a broad free model-generation workflow: the free tier has no generation allowance, and the Unlimited add-on requires a paid ReSing license. Those who rely on a host outside the listed ARA2 support should also confirm that the plug-in formats fit their setup.

Pros and cons

Pros: Voice controls include two-model fusion and dynamic range, offering more shaping options than a simple voice swap.
Pros: Local model creation and local vocal processing let users build custom models without sending transformation audio to external servers.
Pros: ReSing MAX combines a larger model allowance with unlimited imports under a one-time perpetual license.
Cons: Free users cannot generate models, and standard ReSing caps generation at 10.
Cons: Unlimited generation is a separate 149.99 USD per once add-on that requires a paid license.
Cons: The Doubling feature is an add-on, and ARA2 support depends on specific DAWs and minimum versions.

Alternatives

For a different mastering workflow, Matchering is a free, open-source option with a GPLv3 license, available on Linux, macOS, Windows, web and self-hosted setups. Choose it if you need mastering rather than modeled voice and instrument transformation.

FabFilter Pro-L 2 is a paid alternative with a free trial on iOS, macOS and Windows; it is the alternative to consider if a mastering-focused tool better fits the job.

Sonoris DDP Creator is a paid option with a free trial and Standard and Pro licenses priced at 249.00 EUR per once and 349.00 EUR per once, respectively. Consider it when a DDP-creation workflow is the requirement rather than voice transformation.

DSP-Quattro is a freemium macOS option with a free trial, and is relevant if a macOS audio workflow is a better fit. FUSER is a paid option with a free trial for macOS and Windows. Soren is a paid option with a free trial across iOS, macOS and Windows. Tunr is a free macOS and Windows alternative. Brainworx bx_masterdesk is a paid mastering option with a free trial on macOS and Windows.

Verdict

Choose ReSing if you want modeled vocal transformation, local custom model creation and a standalone or plug-in workflow, and can match its license allowance to your projects. Its strongest reason to buy is the breadth of voice shaping and local model tools; its clearest reason to look elsewhere is that free users cannot generate models and unrestricted generation adds a substantial separate cost.
