In their own words
Banter
Banter is a social-skills app for practicing conversations with AI personas and receiving guidance from a second AI called Wingman. More than 150 structured scenarios span six categories, including small talk, conflict, networking, and asking for a raise. Users can practice by text or voice, or build a scene and persona in Freestyle mode. Eight personas respond in character, calibrated to the user’s energy. Wingman reads each turn and supplies a one-line nudge during the exchange. After a session, a six-axis recap covers engagement, specificity, rapport, skill, drive, and adaptability. Streak milestones, XP, and replayable Moments support continued practice. Banter says speech recognition and text-to-speech run on-device, with voice kept on the phone. Conversations are stored on the device and are not used for training or profile resale. The app runs on iOS and Android, requires no account to start, and offers a free plan. Banter Pro Monthly costs $9.99 a month.
