Banter
Banter is a social-skills app for practicing conversations with AI personas and receiving guidance from a second AI called Wingman. More than 150 structured scenarios span six categories, including small talk, conflict, networking, and asking for a raise. Users can practice by text or voice, or build a scene and persona in Freestyle mode. Eight personas respond in character, calibrated to the user’s energy. Wingman reads each turn and supplies a one-line nudge during the exchange. After a session, a six-axis recap covers engagement, specificity, rapport, skill, drive, and adaptability. Streak milestones, XP, and replayable Moments support continued practice. Banter says speech recognition and text-to-speech run on-device, with voice kept on the phone. Conversations are stored on the device and are not used for training or profile resale. The app runs on iOS and Android, requires no account to start, and offers a free plan. Banter Pro Monthly costs $9.99 a month.
Speaking.app
Speaking.app is a web service for recording practice speeches, pitches, presentations, and interview answers, then receiving feedback. Its feedback can cover structure, clarity, pacing, filler words, pauses, and other delivery signals. The Free plan includes core practice and feedback within a limited monthly allowance, plus warm-up practice without AI analysis; it requires no payment card. Pro adds full analysis, deeper clarity and rhetoric feedback, generous usage, unlimited practice history, and Smart Rewrite, which reorganizes a response using the speaker's own points and examples. The Speaking Library contains definitions, examples, and prompts for more than 200 communication techniques. A Toastmost integration brings club agenda names, roles, and times into the Speech Timer or Ah-Counter. The maker says recordings, transcripts, and AI outputs are not used to train third-party or general-purpose AI models, though samples may be reviewed internally for feedback quality. Recordings, transcripts, and analyses are stored in the EEA; some providers process data in the United States under transfer safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses. Users must be at least 16. The maker lists [email protected] for support.
