In their own words

Bardot Brush

Bardot Brush sells downloadable brushes and tools for Procreate users making illustrations, hand lettering, and other digital artwork. Its brush collections use handcrafted textures across fillers, flat brushes, liners, detail brushes, textures, and shaders. They are designed to evoke traditional media while using digital tools, and the maker says the brushes are optimized for Apple Pencil. Installation requires Procreate 5.1 or later on iPad; instructions are also provided for using brush files with Procreate Dreams on iPad. Files are delivered by download, with links in the confirmation page, receipt email, and customer account purchase history. Buyers may use the brushes in personal or commercial work and sell finished work, but may not redistribute downloaded content, including edited brush files. Purchased products include free updates for life. A free plan is listed, with paid products from $10 one-time. Listed options include Basic Toolkit at $12, paid once and Master Bundle at $165, paid once.

Krita

Krita is free, open-source software for digital painting and artwork creation, with tools for illustration and 2D animation. Its brush collection includes more than 100 preloaded options and over nine engines for customizing brushes. Animation tools support audio, onion skinning, extensive timeline frames, and export to video or still images. For color workflows, Krita supports ICC management through LCMS, OpenColorIO for EXR, HDR painting, and OpenEXR. It can open and save PSD files and uses SVG for vector work. C++ and Python plugins can extend the application; plugins distributed for Krita must use the GNU GPL, though creators may charge for downloads. Krita lists Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android, but not iPads or iPhones. The maker says no registration or internet connection is required for use. The listed minimum RAM is 4 GB, with 16 GB recommended. Krita is free and open source, with no subscriptions or trials.
