Overview

PixelMod is an image editor for people who need routine edits and batch exports across web and desktop. Its strongest case is the combination of common image operations with local processing on desktop; its free plan is sharply constrained by a 0.5 MP maximum and Standard model.

Batch settings can be applied to multiple images and exported as a ZIP, making PixelMod a practical option for repeat jobs. Layers Beta adds editable subject and background layers, but remains a beta feature rather than a firm reason to choose the editor.

Key features

Editing tools: Background removal, upscaling, optimization, resizing and watermarking share one editor. This breadth suits general-purpose image work, though the feature set alone will not make it the right choice for a specialist workflow.
Batch processing: Apply settings across images and export a ZIP. That is useful for repeated jobs where consistent output matters more than editing each file individually.
Layers Beta: PixelMod separates a subject from its background into editable layers. It may help with layered adjustments, but the beta status argues against relying on it for a critical workflow.
Formats and controls: Supported inputs are PNG, JPG/JPEG and WEBP; outputs are PNG and JPEG. Resizing is by dimensions, with quality controls. The narrower output choices matter if a workflow requires another format.
Processing and privacy: The macOS and Windows apps process images locally and can work offline after sign-in. Web uploads are encrypted in transit, processed transiently and automatically deleted afterward. PixelMod says it does not use submitted images to train AI models; its privacy policy also describes access controls, least-privilege practices, credential protection and service monitoring.

Named providers include Google for sign-in, Supabase for authentication and account data, Modal for web/API image processing, Lemon Squeezy for payments and Hostinger for hosting.

Pricing

The Free plan is free and includes five web downloads a month, unlimited desktop downloads, a 0.5 MP maximum and the Standard model. It is a sensible way to try the workflow or handle small desktop jobs, but the resolution ceiling rules it out for larger images, and Maximum Quality is unavailable.

Starter costs 7.00 USD per month, with 100 web downloads a month, unlimited desktop downloads, a 16 MP maximum and Maximum Quality. It fits regular individual use that needs higher resolution without Pro’s larger quota. Pro costs 14.00 USD per month and raises the web allowance to 1,000 downloads a month and the maximum to 25 MP, retaining unlimited desktop downloads and Maximum Quality; it is the better fit for heavier web-based volume.

Paid plans are recurring subscriptions that renew automatically until cancelled through the customer portal. Prices are in USD, with applicable taxes shown at checkout. There is no free trial. The lower plans give up web-download capacity and, on Free, both resolution and Maximum Quality.

Platforms

PixelMod runs on the web, macOS and Windows. Desktop requirements are macOS 12 or later on Apple Silicon or Intel, or Windows 10/11 64-bit. Local processing and offline use after sign-in make the desktop apps the stronger choice for work that should stay on the computer; web processing is available when that is more convenient.

Who it's for

PixelMod suits people who want resizing, cleanup and related image edits in one place, especially when they repeat settings across batches or prefer local desktop processing. It is less suitable for anyone who needs high-resolution output on a free plan, a non-PNG/JPEG output format, or certainty from a feature still in beta.

Pros and cons

Pro: Batch settings and ZIP export simplify repeat processing of multiple images.
Pro: Desktop apps process locally and support offline work after sign-in.
Pro: Paid tiers provide Maximum Quality and higher image ceilings while keeping desktop downloads unlimited.
Con: Free tops out at 0.5 MP and uses Standard, limiting its usefulness for larger images.
Con: The web quota is limited to five downloads monthly on Free, while even paid plans cap it at 100 or 1,000.
Con: Layers is in beta, and listed output formats are limited to PNG and JPEG.

Verdict

Choose PixelMod if you want a cross-platform editor that combines everyday image operations with batch export and local desktop processing. The main reason to look elsewhere is the Free plan’s 0.5 MP and Standard-model ceiling; even paid users should check that the web quota and PNG/JPEG outputs fit their workflow.
