Overview

Beamer centers on a changelog and notification center for communicating product updates. Its Feedback product adds an ideas portal and roadmap, where users can submit, vote on, and comment on ideas. That combination suits teams looking to connect product communication with user input, though the NPS and Feedback capabilities are separate paid add-ons rather than included in the listed core plans.

Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, Beamer lists Android, iOS, web, and API among its platforms. It is a freemium product with a free plan and a 14-day trial.

Key features

Announcements and targeting

Boosted announcements can appear as pop-ups, top bars, snippets, or tooltips. Basic segmentation covers straightforward audience selection, while advanced AND/OR segmentation gives teams more control over targeting. Push notifications can reach users who are offline on a site or app. These options make Beamer more than a static changelog, but teams should choose it for targeted product communication rather than assume it replaces a broader marketing platform.

Feedback and integrations

The ideas portal and roadmap support a visible feedback loop: users can propose ideas, vote, and comment. Beamer also lists feature requests, in-app feedback, NPS surveys, and sentiment analysis. Zapier, Segment, an API, webhooks, social sharing, and a WordPress plugin are among its integration options. Installation can use an HTML/JavaScript embed, WordPress plugin, Google Tag Manager, or API, giving teams several routes to add it to an existing site or app.

Security and availability

Beamer states that it is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant, encrypts data in transit and at rest, backs up customer data, and maintains uptime above 99.9%. Those commitments may matter to teams evaluating it for business use, while its Custom plan adds enterprise-oriented security review and onboarding options.

Pricing

The Free plan is free and covers 1,000 MAUs, one teammate, one language, and zero API requests per month; it also carries a watermark. It is a useful way to start with a small audience, but the single-seat cap, watermark, and lack of API requests constrain teams needing a branded, collaborative setup.

Starter is shown at 5949.00 USD per month, with monthly or yearly billing, and includes 5,000 MAUs, unlimited teammates, 2,000 API requests per month, and standard support. Pro is 11999.00 USD per month, with 10,000 MAUs, unlimited teammates, 20,000 API requests, 5,000 emails per month, and advanced support. Scale is 299249.00 USD per month, with 50,000 MAUs, unlimited teammates, 100,000 API requests, 20,000 emails per month, and priority support. These tiers primarily raise audience and usage allowances while improving support; the listed prices are substantial, so smaller teams should scrutinize their needs before moving beyond Free.

Custom has custom pricing, custom MAUs, unlimited teammates, custom API limits and email volume, and enterprise support. NPS surveys are a 99.00 USD per month add-on, covering in-app, email, and linked surveys, advanced analytics, and advanced segmentation. The Feedback add-on is also 99.00 USD per month and includes in-app feedback collection and moderation plus public and private roadmaps. If an account exceeds its included MAUs, Beamer automatically adds bundles at $50/month per additional 5,000 MAUs, making audience growth a direct cost consideration. The pricing note gives paid entry as $49/mo (annual); the listed plan amounts and annual billing note should be checked against the expected billing term when comparing costs.

Platforms

Beamer lists Android, iOS, web, and API. Its embed, tag manager, plugin, and API installation paths offer flexibility for web deployment, while mobile push notifications extend announcements to offline users on a site or app.

Who it's for

Beamer is a reasonable fit for product and marketing teams that want targeted announcements alongside a structured way to collect ideas and manage a roadmap. Free is most relevant to a small team testing the workflow within its 1,000-MAU, one-teammate, and one-language limits. Larger teams can use the paid tiers for more MAUs, teammates, API requests, email volume, and support; organizations requiring tailored limits or enterprise support should consider Custom. It is less compelling for teams that need NPS or feedback features included in the core plan, since both are separately priced add-ons.

Pros and cons

Pro: Multiple announcement formats and segmentation options let teams tailor product updates instead of relying on a single changelog view.
Pro: An ideas portal and roadmap put submissions, voting, and discussion alongside product communication.
Pro: HTML/JavaScript, WordPress, Google Tag Manager, and API installation options accommodate different deployment approaches.
Con: Free is limited to one teammate and one language, includes a watermark, and allows no API requests, which can make it a narrow starting point for teams.
Con: NPS and Feedback each cost 99.00 USD per month, so teams needing both must account for add-on costs beyond the core plan.
Con: MAU overages automatically add $50/month for each additional 5,000 MAUs, so a growing audience can increase spend.

Alternatives

For a wider comparison, see Product Management Software and Customer Feedback Software.

Pendo Analytics is a relevant alternative for teams prioritizing product analytics and in-app guides; its free plan includes 500 monthly active users and unlimited web and mobile app keys. Featurebase is worth comparing for teams seeking a feedback-focused free entry with unlimited conversations and a single seat. Sleekplan may suit teams that want a free feedback board and changelog with unlimited feedback and subscribers, though its free Indie plan has zero team seats and limits announcement views to 1,000 per month.

Tempo Portfolio Manager, Canny, Productboard, UserJot, and Dragonboat are additional alternatives to compare.

Verdict

Choose Beamer if your product or marketing team wants targeted announcements and user feedback in one embeddable tool, with several installation options and room to scale usage. Look elsewhere if you need NPS or feedback in the base plan, or if the MAU overage mechanism and paid-tier costs do not suit your expected audience.
