In their own words
Bedrock Viz
Bedrock Viz parses Minecraft Bedrock Edition world files to create overview images and reports, and it can generate a browser-based viewer for exploring a world. The viewer covers Overworld and Nether layers, biomes, mobs and items, spawnable blocks, chunk boundaries, elevation shading, and distance measurement. It can browse 256 layers from bedrock to the build limit. Image outputs include world layers, biomes, block light, block height, and grass color; movie output is available for world layers and requires ffmpeg. The software is free and listed for Linux, macOS, web, and Windows. The README provides a Windows 10 download, supports macOS 10.15 and later through Homebrew, and directs Linux users to compile the source. Generated maps can be served locally with Docker and NGINX, or viewed offline. Running the program can change world files, so work from a backup. Locally opened viewers may lose some features because of browser restrictions, and slime chunk finding may be unreliable.
Mapcrafter
Mapcrafter is free, GPL-licensed software that renders Minecraft worlds as images for viewing in a web browser with Leaflet.js. It offers top-down 2D and isometric 3D views, four world rotations, and day, night, and cave render modes. Overlays can display details such as slime-spawn and nighttime-monster locations, and markers can be generated from world data. Configuration files control which worlds are rendered, the views, and other rendering parameters. Listed capabilities include biome colors, incremental rendering, and multithreading.
Mapcrafter runs on Linux and Unix-like systems such as Mac OS; Windows support is experimental. Building it requires a C++ compiler, CMake, make, and libraries including libpng, libjpeg, and Boost components. Debian and Ubuntu packages are available. It supports offline viewing, server maps, and dimension maps, and requires Anvil world format and Minecraft 1.6 resource packs. The maintainer says new feature development is no longer possible, although issues and pull requests may still be addressed.
