Security controlsBeeceptor states that it encrypts data in transit and at rest and maintains SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and GDPR compliance claims. The Enterprise plan lists custom SSO and SCIM, GovCloud, and fully offline or air-gapped image delivery options.
Self-hostingAn on-premises edition runs as Docker-packaged services on a single host, supports optional Kubernetes scaling and can operate air-gapped.LocalStack can run locally in Docker and can be deployed on Kubernetes through an Operator, Helm chart or Kubernetes manifests.
SupportPaid Individual and Team plans include chat and email support, while Scale includes chat and priority email support.Standard support is best effort with no guaranteed response time and a typical 24–48 hour response during business hours; Enterprise includes custom SLAs.
What it doesBeeceptor provides browser-based mock servers and API service virtualization for testing, traffic inspection, integration debugging and controlled failure simulation.LocalStack runs AWS, Snowflake and Azure APIs in containers so developers can build, test and debug cloud applications without live cloud accounts.

In their own words

Beeceptor

Beeceptor is a developer-focused API simulation platform for mocking services, virtualizing them, testing contracts, and simulating failures. It supports HTTP, HTTPS, HTTP/2, mTLS, REST/OpenAPI, SOAP, GraphQL, and gRPC. Users can build no-code mocks with request-matching rules and set response status codes, headers, and bodies. Uploading an OpenAPI specification can create a populated mock server with AI-generated data. Beeceptor can proxy requests to live backends, record traffic, and switch to mock behavior when a backend is unavailable. Latency, timeouts, and errors can be simulated to check client resilience. Its CLI exposes a localhost service through a public HTTPS URL and runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Management APIs support mock-server configuration, while MCP connectivity supports AI agents including Claude and Cursor. API Connections store OAuth credentials and generate tokens for outbound requests. Beeceptor says it is SOC 2 Type II audited, adheres to ISO 27001, and complies with GDPR; it also says data is encrypted in transit and at rest. The free plan has public endpoints, a 1 MB request payload limit, and cleanup rules for unclaimed endpoints.

LocalStack

LocalStack simulates cloud environments on customer infrastructure so developers and AI agents can validate applications before deployment. It currently emulates AWS and Snowflake, with AWS coverage described as 120+ services; an Azure public preview is coming soon. A typical workflow deploys application code and infrastructure-as-code resources into a local container, where teams can inspect failures and validate fixes before changing the endpoint to ship. LocalStack can run in GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, and Jenkins through a Docker image. The listed infrastructure-as-code tools include CDK, Terraform, and Pulumi. LocalStack is designed for development and testing, not production customer-facing applications. Hobby is free, offers 30+ emulated services and one personal sandbox, and is restricted to non-commercial use. AWS Base costs $39 a year, billed at $39 per license per month annually, or $45 per license per month billed monthly. LocalStack supports API, Linux, macOS, self-hosted, web, and Windows environments.
